Chapter 21 - Family

Toby

     I drive as the rain falls.What is she doing?Where is she going?And what if something bad happens to her?I would never forgive myself.

    The car enters the park and stops.She doesn't gets out.I stop mines and go to hers.She's shruken, like a fetus.She is sobbing and obviously, crying.I open the other door and get in.

     "Spencer..." she raises her head and look into my eyes.Her eyes are red, like her nose.Tears fall from them like a waterfall.Then, she buries her head in her knees again. "Hey baby, I'm here.It will be all okay."

     "I-I love you..." she whispers. "I don't want to go home."

     "I love you too.You don't have idea of how much." I say and a smile appears on her face. "We will stay at a motel, okay?

            "I don't deserve you." she says and we kiss passionately.

Spencer's P.O.V

          After we pull apart, I sigh.

          "My world has changed so much since I fell for you.It's completely different, but at the sane time there's elements from the past." I say, looking into his eyes.

          "And...don't you miss the old one?" he raises an eyebrow, his voice shakily.I smile, full of happiness.

          "Toby, my world is you." we start to kiss again, and then, I lay on his lap.I open my mouth and say one more thing.

          "I finally found my safe place to land."

           

The next morning...

            I check the time in my phone, 7:23 AM.I roll my eyes and enter the house.As I do, Melissa sighs.Peter looks up and Veronica's eyes widen, a tear escaping by her eye.You can clearly see that they didn't sleep.My mother's eyes are puffy and red.

           "My God, Spencer." she whispers.Mom gets up and hugs me. "Please, never do that again."

           "Are you okay?" I ask her, worried.She nods.

           My dad gets up too.I am ready to listen things like "You're grounded" , "You disappoint me" or even "That's a shame".But instead, he starts to cry.Yep, my dad, Peter Hastings, is crying.He gives me an tight hug.

          "I thought that something happened to you." he says. "I couldn't handle that."

          I'm in shock.I look to my mom and Melissa - whose eyes are red, watery and puffy now.

          I remember what Toby said to me in the waterfall, when I realized that I was in love with him.

         "I bet that if something happens to you, she would go crazy." Toby said.

        "First of all, you don't know her." Spencer said back, pissed.

       "You're right." he said and she smirked.Ha, she thought. "I don't know her.But she is your sister.Even if you don't believe, she loves you.You are the same blood."

                  

       I realize what it's going on.They really care about me.All these years, I thought that Melissa would love if I die, that nobody cared about me.But they did.They do.A lot.

       One, two, three, BAM.That's the number of seconds until I explode.Tears are rolling down my cheeks, and I'm sobbing.It's not because they were worried.It's because I finally know it.They care, they love me!

       "I am so sorry." I say.

      Beep, my phone makes noise.One new message.I grab it, unlock and when I'm ready to read it, Veronica grabs it.I look to her,  confuse.She reads it and so does Peter.Melissa looks to me, raising an eyebrow.I lift up and lower my shoulders.My mother gives the phone back.I read the message.

      I hope you're okay.If you need me, I'm here.Love you. -Toby

     At first, my heart melts.God, how I love this guy!I feel in paradise when I'm with him.He's funny, but not the type that makes a joke every single minute.He is pretty.His smell is good.His hair is sometimes messy, but not too much.You know you can tell him everything, because he won't tell people and will not laugh.He is always here to you, no matter what.He doesn't care if your family is a complete mess, since you're okay.He protects you.If you doesn't look that good, he makes a little joke about it, but is not mean.When he sees that he hurted you, he will say sorry and comfort you.Money, jewerly and all that stuff doesn't matters to him.When he blushes, that's adorable.He is loyal, and would never cheat on you.And he makes you the happiest girl in the entire world, just because he is he.He loves you, and you love him.That's it.

     Then, I remember why all this happened.I look up and bite my lower lip.Someone got a pencil and bursted my bubble.

      "I-I..." I start, but suddenly my dad smiles, a little reluctant.That's my turn to look to Melissa and raise an eyebrow, while she lifts up and lower her shoulders, like she doesn't knows what's going on.

      "I made an decision." my dad clear his throat. "Earlier this morning, I realized why you ran away.You love him.And love..."

      "Is something that we can't control." My mom interrupts.My dad is speechless.I lock a laugh.His speech gone wrong. "Peter and I want you to be happy.You two will show up here Friday at dinner time."

       "Is that what I'm thinking?" I control myself to not jump or scream.

       "We will see." My mom blinks to me and hug them.Even Melissa.
