Jim POV
After the fight with Morgana, we traveled by nightfall all the way to New Jersey. When we arrived, much to what Merlin said, there really was another hearthstone. There we found an empty cavern, but something was strange. It looked like it used to have others living there, but there wasn't anyone there. It was completely deserted. As soon as we all settled down in a camp like style Merlin called me over.
"Jim, there's something I must do. You see, I have a son."
That surprised me a little. "You, have a son?"
"Well, yes. You see he was in a coma just like me and I guess there were some flaws so about 18 years ago he must have woken up. You see throughout my slumber I could sense his presence but suddenly it vanished. He was about 26 when I preformed the spell and since I used more charms I can only assume he remained the same age, while I, undoubtedly, have aged quite a bit. I'm going to go on a search for him."
"Okay." I said hoping for him to shut up.
With that Merlin took off leaving me and Claire to get things in order.
"Eh hem," started Claire. The trolls kept talking. Again she tried a little louder. "Eh hem." Still the trolls kept talking. "Excuse me!" She shouted loud enough to echo. The trolls went silent.
I piped in, "we are going to rest for a bit and then eventually we will start to make this place live-able." The trolls nodded their heads in silent agreement and went back to chatting. I walked to a far corner and sat leaning my shoulder against the wall. I sighed. Suddenly I felt something lean against my other shoulder, and I could already guess who it is.
"I'm a little annoyed I forgot to ask Merlin if there was a way I could take off the amulet, it's not exactly comfortable to wear 24/7 I've just been sucking it up."
"Yeah, but, then we would have to find you 'troll clothes'." She laughed a bit, but I just stared at the cave wall.
————————————————————————
A couple of days past and finally Merlin returned. There was young-ish man walking behind him, wearing a fedora. It covered his face but I could tell by movement he was reluctant to follow. The new troll market had been fixed up a bit and I had my own kind of house/room. Since I am still half human I need to sleep just as much as a human does, apparently. That is what I was doing when Claire came knocking on my door.
"Merlin's back."
"Huh," I said sort of asleep.
She came in got right next my ear and screamed, "Merlin's Back!!"
"God! Ow! You know I have sensitive ears!" I yelled pointing at her in annoyance. I got out of bed and we walked out of my house/ room, I really can't decide what it is. She leaded me to Blinky's office, I guess you could say. When I walked in Merlin, Blinky and what I could assume was Merlin's son were all sitting down at a table. Me and Claire took the two remain chairs and sat down. We sat in silence for a couple of minutes until I broke it.
"So, I can assume it was a success?"
"Yes, and I can see things are going well here," replies Merlin.
"I guess so," I replied. Suddenly his son spoke up.
"Hey, you must be the troll hunter?" He shakes his hand in a hello. I still couldn't see his face but something about home seemed familiar.
"Uh yeah, I'm Jim," I offered my left hand for a shake.
He took it and said, "I'm James." He shook my hand and then pulled off his hat.
