Jim POV
I need to find my mom!

Trudging through familiar woods, whisps of shadows long forgotten.

"Where are we going?" Eli questioned. I stayed silent, my breath becoming more and more uneven.

"Yeah Jim, where are we going?" Steve asked. The breath caught in my throat, and my mouth ran dry.

"My mother is gone, I can sense it, and what people have told me have only confirmed that." I stopped steadfast as my mind picked at old memories.

Claire POV

'Damn you Jim lake!!!,' I thought, as I clenched my fists.

"He must be heading East of town, and he's not alone," Jim Sr. said.

"Yeah, I picked up on that," I said, becoming more and more annoyed with him by the second.

What I wouldn't give to have my shadow staff right about now. This could be done so much quicker. Jim grunted in frustration, as he fell to the ground, having tripped on a root. Rolling my eyes, I jerked him from the ground. "We're never going to catch up to him at this pace!!" I screamed to the forest.

This is by far the slowest man I have ever met.

—————-A—Little—Bit—Later—————

Jim POV

By now we've had to stop and rest, and by I mean them. Naturally, I took watch. These days give me an hour of sleep an I'll be good to go.

I climbed up into a tree, all the way to the top, to see the stars. 'This is as good as it's going to get,' I thought to myself.

————————Time—Skip———————

When morning came I realized dark clouds had littered the sky. I immediately started digging a hole under a part of a tree.

'Damn it! It's a whole day of trekking, wasted!',' I thought as my boots sunk deeper into the mud. 'And now I have to deal with this mess.' (Referring to the hole)

An hour later

By now my three friends were sitting in a muddy, CONCEALED, hole, 'Stupid Steve.' I in turn was on the hunt. Clouds=No Sun=More work for me. This being while the others did their best to make it durable, and at least somewhat clean, as clean as a dirt hole can be.

'What am I even looking for. Fruit?' I pondered. 'What do you even feed normal people IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FOREST!!!???'

'Should I have really left her behind? NO! It's for her own good, sure she's gotten better, but without her shadow staff, she doesn't stand a chance.'

'Man, I'm so stupid! I left her there with HIM (refers to father)!'

'She's definitely going to kill me'

Hey Readers! Uhhhh *laughs nervously* I know, I know I was supposed to post, but I had like tons and tons of work to do adding on to an already busy schedule. I'll try to keep you guys interested. To be honest, the beginning is VERY VERY ROUGH! I'm hoping my skill will improve and my idea will become more clear, because I know where I want the plot to reach, I just don't know how to get there... 😖

Anyways. Try to stick with me through this mess.
