the unraveling of
something so sloppily built
higher and higher,
giving off a sense of
a strong foundation.
looming over, establishing its presence.
"I am here to stay"
higher and higher, hour upon hour
higher and higher, day upon day
secure, strong, safe.
secure, strong, safe.
secure, strong, safe.
secure, strong, safe.
secure—
pangs of regret take aimstrong—
booms of uncertainty resoundsafe—
in the lies and the laughslayers upon layers give way,
emptier and emptier I come to be
the dust rising from the fall
ears ringing from the sound.
the ground shaking
my hands lowered.
my heart heavy.
Slowly, I pick up
the longing
the urge
the hesitance
the jump
the trip
the fall.
the pieces that defined me.
the pieces that kept me tied.shoulders light and ready;
continuously healing, continuously growing;
I start anew.
