I sat there shivering, waiting for my mother to come back for me. My littermates went to go find her two days before. They had not returned. I was freezing and starving, since I was to young to hunt or scavenge for food. After all I was only two months old. I gave up hope and left my hiding spot; a hollow tree just beyond the... what did mother call it? City! That's it. I walked slowly on my little legs until I reached the end of the city. I tried to push over the shiny metal thing with food scraps in them, the way I once saw mother do when I followed her, but it was no use. I was just to small. I seach around for a while then found a piece of bread. I ate it gratefully and fell asleep in a cardboard box.
