Dante
I just stared at the darkness for days. That vast empty whole of nothingness, I couldn't hear Ari's voice because something had been done to me after I left Julian all alone. But I'm slowly going crazy staring at noting but blackness. At a sky with no stars, but my own voice inside my head.
AT a BLANK SKY. No sign of human life or NOTHING, NADA!
And I'm slowly going out of my mind.
"He should wake up by now," A feminine voice said.
Good! This is good! I can hear–
"Healing his soul shouldn't be this difficult. My magic's supposed to work."
Magic?!
"You told me I could trust you," Ari growled. "Now fix it, Natalia."
They are on first name basis. Interesting.
"Why don't you tone it done a bit. You look pathetic, you have circles underneath your eyes," Natalia snapped.
"Stop yelling your guys are hurting my ear drums," I mumble.
At least my voice works.
"Dante—"
Oh no.
Ari hugged me and it felt weird. My body was even more sore as he wrapped his arms around me.
Did he know I still felt the pain of the bullet?
"Ari."
"Yes?"
"Your crushing me," I croaked.
He pulled away as I said my pain. "Sorry," he mumbled. And I caressed his cheek, "I missed you."
I gently let Ari crush me again as I glance at Natalia, "I heard everything...I'm so sorry." It took me a while to look at her peculiar eyes, she just not be from here.
Natalia gives me a kind smile, "no worries, not everyone's family is perfect..." she readjusted the leather gloves, "you flatlined, did perces catch you?"
I shivered at memory, being surrounded by books is alright but finding myself staring at darkness forever.
The feeling is mutual.
"He did, um, it's weird," I can't fully tell her everything because he's been with my man for sometime. And I don't trust newcomers. But it seems Ari has gotten...attached.
And I wouldn't want to take that away from him.

"Magic is real?"
Those are the first three words I said ever since they explained me their devotion to magic and all that stuff that people tell in fairy tails.
Is it the right time to tell them? About the library; about Julian and my encounter with Preces?
"You think is fake," Natalia said coldly. "Well it's not, my healing saved you from being flatlined...again."
"Show me."
"What?" She said confused.
"That's right. Show. Me. Your magic."
I looked at Natalia dead in the eye. She squinted her eyes as my mother when I get in trouble. "Fine."
One of her gloves slipped off and an inferno levitated in her palm.
A small radiant blue flame, nothing burning, she's not wincing. The fire is relaxing but at the same time it gets me anxious. What if she's getting burned but doesn't show it?
Then it twisted, it split into two and formed two people dancing. "Memories of Fire are precious, Preces like power. I know you were in his grasp and it would really help if we solve this case of your."
As the flame vanishes, I fall back on the lump, hard hospital pillow. "He's called, 'the destroyer'" I say, making quotation marks with my fingers. "Greek mythology, tyrant and owns a club."
"What's Greek mythology?" Natalia asked confused.
"Your not from here are you?"
"Yeah I am. I'm human not...alien? Is that what you guys call people who aren't, 'normal'"
"No I mean. From here, Texas."
Natalia rolls the doctors seat next to me, "I'm from Kenosha."
"Wisconsin!?"
From the corner of my eye Ari face palmed himself into a pillow. I wince, "those are—"
"...thanks for the warning," he muffled.
Natalia gives me a sour look, "Kenosha's a realm—the theory of having other galaxies is true. Is another realm out there past the stars and over the blood-moon."
I raise an eyebrow in confusion. "So your not alien?"
"No, I'm human...but with powers."
"Psychic?"
"No."
"Your secretly Hulk?"
"What's a Hulk?" She asked confused.
"Never mind—your different, human, and have super powers. Okay. How does this fit with all of this?"
"I Can help you," Natalia says calmly. "Perces is a god, he wants you dead because he has a bounty on your head. Your father is a target, your friend Julian was one. Everyone who's related to has an ultimate price on their head."
"And we have to stop it."
She nodded, "I just don't know how."
Ari was still on the bed, then I whacked him with a pillow. He stood up, "What!? Qué pasó, se murió alguien!? Why did you wake me." (What happened? Did someone die?)
"Poor you," Natalia and I said.
Ari fell on the bed he curled up next to me, "Shut up I'm trying to sleep."
I comb my fingers though his hair, "no worries, we won't wake you up."
"You guys get some rest, I'll head out for coffee."
"So you know what coffee is?"
Natalia huffed a laugh, "who doesn't?"
I nodded and waved her goodbye. The door went white as she shut it.
Probably something to keep us protected.
I felt Ari's breath hot against my skin as he had fallen asleep. I kissed him lightly on his forehead, "What would I ever do without you?"
For a moment I panicked that he didn't answer but his body shifted and he said, still sleepy, "...well a lot of things."
I pulled him closer, "just sleep, you have circles underneath those precious eyes of yours."
"...good advice," he yawned and hid his face on the crook of my neck.
I pulled the blanket over us and tried to sleep.
But I'm afraid that he'll come back.
So I just stared at Ari the whole night. Making sure he is still breathing. Which would be irony because I'm the one being treated for a shotgun wound.
However I didn't care.
I only cared about the person in my arms.
"I love you," I whisper. "Forever and always."
