"Ready babe?" Laura asked and Alyssa said a soft yeah. She still had Michelle on her mind and now it was scary.
Once she was home Alyssa started looking for an outfit. She didn't have any dresses that she liked and she had a few dress shirts.
She finally decided on black slacks, a dark blue dress shirt and a light green bow tie.
Alyssa smiled as she looked in the mirror and her dad knocked on her door.

"Come in," she said and he did.

"Alyssa. You look great. I'm glad things are going well," he smiled and sat on the corner of her bed. Alyssa frowned a bit and looked at him.

"Dad, I feel like Laura is getting really weird lately.. I mean she is getting mad at me over small things and over possessive and sometimes it scares me," she said softly.
She wasn't planning to tell him this but maybe it was for the best.

"Well, if it gets too bad, you do not need to stay with her. Do what your heart says to princess," he mumbled and kissed her head.

Alyssa smiled and they soon heard the familiar honk of Laura's horn. She said bye and rushed out the door. Laura had a long blue dress on that was mermaid cut.

It had some sparkles near the bottom but other than that it was plain.

"I am so glad you picked a blue shirt, but that tie is hideous take it off. You cannot meet them with that on," she said as Alyssa got in the car.

"Oh, I thought it matched my hair," she said. Her hair had been fading and was more green than blue now.

"No, no no, it does not match me though so off," Laura told her as they started driving. Alyssa frowned and took the bow tie off and stuffed it in her pocket.
It was a 15 minute drive out to her dad's house. Laura's dad, grandparents, aunt, and cousins should all be there.

She noticed that they were really close to a hospital. South shore, a pretty interesting name for a hospital but they were in that area.
There were some restaurants and fast food joints too. A small gas station and a Wal-Mart. They soon pulled into the driveway of a two story house. IT wasn't big but it wasn't small either. Alyssa climbed out of the car and met Laura in front of it.

"Do they even know I am coming? Or that we are together?" Alyssa asked nervously.

"Well.. I said I was bringing a date. I never specified the gender. Although since they are pretty, ehhh, they assume it is a guy," Laura explained.

Alyssa felt her heart sink in fear as she looked up at the house. Laura took her hand and Alyssa squeezed it a little scared. They walked up the three steps and Laura rang the bell. A little girl around the age of 6 opened the door.

"Mom! Laura is here! With some girl in boy's clothes," she said confused as a tall woman with bleach blonde hair came up behind her. Her makeup was so heavy and her spray tan was so fake that Alyssa felt disgust in her stomach.

"Oh. Laura, you brought a friend. Did your date cancel?" the woman said with slight disappointment. She had on a cheetah print dress and heels at least 6 inches tall. She put her hand on the small girls shoulder. The small girl was pale with dirty blonde hair.

"No Aunt Cathy. This, is my date," she said softly. Cathy's awkward forced smile curled down into an obvious frown of disgust. How someone that garish could be disgusted by anything was behind Alyssa.

"Oh. Well. I guess come in. We will see what your dad has to say about this," the woman, Cathy, said as she turned and walked off in a strut as if she won an argument they didnt even notice was going on.

"Why is your date a girl?" the little girl asked.

"Misty, a date can be anyone you love. It doesn't matter if they are a boy or a girl," Laura said smiling. She looked at them both then said okay and skipped away. That was really easy. Alyssa chewed on her lip as Laura took her hand and started leading her to another room behind the small girl.

"So her date is-" they heard Cathy saying and stopping when she saw them come in. "Well. See for yourself Max," she grumbled softly as a man turned around. He was probably in his early forties with blonde and gray hair. He was tall and pretty thin for a man his age.

"Laura?" he asked softly. "Can I see you in the kitchen for a moment?" Laura nodded and followed him into the kitchen. Alyssa was now standing in the entrance way of the dining room. Cathy was staring at her with her arms crossed. Misty was at the table coloring with a little boy who looked 4. Then there was a couple at the table staring at her. They had to be in their late 60's with white hair and wrinkly faces.

They stared at Alyssa a bit curiously in silence. Alyssa held her hands in front of her nervously as she looked around a bit unsure of what to do.

"Oh come sit sweetheart," the old woman said. Alyssa looked at her and nodded before slowly going to a chair. "What is your name?"

"Uh, Alyssa," she replied quietly.

"That's a pretty name. I'm Justine and this my husband George," she introduced. Alyssa smiled a bit at them shyly. She looked over and Cathy was watching her.

"Nice to meet you," Alyssa said smiling a bit.

"So you're her date? Well I guess girls are experimenting younger than when I was a teen," the woman laughed softly. Alyssa watched her a bit surprised. "Tell me dearly, how long have you known her?"

"Well we have been going to school together for a while but I never really talked to her, she was even in one of my classes and I didn't know. Then we started talking around 2 months ago and started dating shortly after," Alyssa told them blushing a bit. She looked at Cathy who watched her, then at the kids who barely noticed, and the grandpa who looked zoned out.

She chewed on her lip nervously as Laura came back into the room with her eyeliner running and her dad behind her looking mad still "I want them out of my house," he stated as Laura came over to Alyssa.

"Oh Max hush up! It is 2017 and there are gay people everywhere. She is still your daughter, and she is still my granddaughter!" George yelled at him. This was the first time he seemed like he wasn't asleep and he actually sounded less like the typical old man that he looked like. "I'd still love you or Cathy or Misty and Jackson if any of them were gay! Don't be an asshole to your kid," he scolded.

Alyssa was a bit shocked that he was so accepting. People always say children and elders do not understand anything in the LGBT community but that is not true, it really just depends on how the person truly is deep down. Max was silent, Cathy was mad, Laura was cleaning her makeup, and Alyssa was pure red.

"Fine. Dinner is done," he said and Cathy followed him into the kitchen. They brought out together a ham, potatoes, green beans, carrots, a pitcher of water, a pitcher of tea, and a cake for dessert. Soon the table started gathering food on their plates.

Alyssa nervously put some food on her plate but not much. They all chatted and asked questions about how they met, where they've gone, where Alyssa is from, her life and family, her house, and all the other normal things. ----
