"Mia, your patient's heart beat came back," another nurse said at the door. Mia and Alyssa both stood up quickly. They went to the room together and Mia entered first going to her while Alyssa watched by the door way. The monitor beeped once again at a normal pace. Mia smiled and came back to Alyssa.
"She's asleep still, but they have shown signs that she may wake up," Mia told her. Alyssa smiled and came over to her. She sat in the chair by her bed and gently took Michelle's hand.
"I know you can do it. Just wake up Michelle, its okay," she said softly. She wished it could be like a cliche movie or story where she opened her eyes after that, but she didn't.
"Is she okay? Is she alive?" she heard Kamryn ask as she ran into the room. "Oh, Michelle sweetie," she said softly as she came by Alyssa.
"Her heart is beating but she is still asleep," Alyssa said softly.
"Thank you for being here. You're like a second daughter to us after all this," Kamryn told her smiling a bit. Alyssa chuckled with a slight blush and nodded.
"I care so much about her. I don't want to leave. I just want to see her be okay," she said softly. Kamryn nodded and kissed Michelle's forehead then kissed Alyssa's.
"Im gonna talk to the nurse. Then I need to get back to work," she said softly and left the room. Alyssa watched her and sighed a bit.
Alyssa watched Michelle, she didn't know what to say or do, she didn't even know if Michelle could hear her. Alyssa spent the next 20 minutes just sitting there.
She scrolled through Instagram on her phone and checked a few Facebook status, she was just relieved to hear the beeping again, she didn't know she could love a steady beeping so much.
"Alyssa, are you hungry? I just got off and I could get you something," Mia offered in the doorway.
"No, I'm not really hungry. But thank you, I'll see you tomorrow," Alyssa replied and Mia nodded. She sighed once again looking at Michelle, she looked beautiful even when she wasn't coherent to anything.
Alyssa smiled and looked back at her phone for awhile. She didn't know how to feel right now but she did feel a bit better knowing that she was at least alive.

After a few hours;Everything was blurry. But slowly things were beginning to come in focus. She opened her eyes. She didn't recognize this place. She sat up in the neat white bed she laid in. 'Where was this place?' She looked around the room with her deep brown eyes.
Beside the bed was a drawer with a flowerpot filled with roses. A pile a "get well" cards laid there untouched. She glanced inside the room,
"Where am I?" She asked herself. The person in the corner stirred. She immediately looked at her, waiting for her to awake. The person indeed awake, it was a female.
Alyssa yawned and opened her eyes. The first thing she saw was the girl awake in bed. She immediately jumped out of her chair.
"Michelle! Michelle! You woke up." The female ran over to Michelle.
"Michelle?" She questioned. "Who are you?"
"Michelle? What's wrong?" The female asked with confusion.
"Who...who am I?" Michelle asked realizing she did not know. 'Who am I? Am I this "Michelle"?'
"Michelle, you don't remember?" The girl asked nervously. "I should get a doctor." She ran out of the room in a hurry.
"Who am I?"
"You don't remember getting in the car accident?" Alyssa asked softly as she started to sit down.
"No," she whispered "And, who are you?" Mich, asked again
"You. You don't remember anything? Do you?"
Alyssa was shocked and don't even know what to do.
"Amnesia?" Michelle could hear them talking. They were talking about her right outside.
"How did she get amnesia? God, how could this happen?" She heard another voice said.
"Well, that concussion must have done this to her." The doctor said.
"When will she get her memories back?"
"You can never be sure."
Michelle tried to block out the conversation. She glanced into the mirror they brought for her. It was like she was a whole new person. It was just a few minutes ago in which she first saw herself in the mirror. She was a stranger now to everyone and to herself. She stared at the mirror image. Short dark hair with brown eyes. They looked back at her menacingly.
"Michelle..." She said to herself. "That is me?"
She was so confused. She tried not to think about it, but she couldn't help it. As much as it gave her a headache, she had to wonder... Who was she?
Her thoughts were interrupted at the door opened. She glanced to the doorway. There was the female in teary eyed together with a middle-aged male.
"Michelle?" The male asked.
"...Yes?" Michelle replied getting use to the name.
"I thought we should reintroduce ourselves, maybe you'll remember." He said. She gave him a nod of approval.
They approached her hospital bed.
"My name is Blake." Blake said. "I'm your father."
It was weird for Michelle to think of him as her father. She did not know this man.
"I'm Kamryn." Kamryn said. "I'm your mother"
Michelle gave a nod.
"I'm sorry. I don't remember." Michelle said. The two looked disappointed. Michelle felt bad in a way, but there was nothing she could do. Her thoughts were interrupted by the doctor.
"Michelle?" He asked. Michelle nodded.
"You have amnesia. Your memory is forgotten. It can last for a few days to a few years. Maybe forever. We believe it would be best for you to return to your regular environment and that should help you remember."
"And what if it doesn't?" She asked. He didn't respond. Michelle looked away.
'Maybe forever....'

"Alyssa's thought"'Amnesia. The doctors say she has amnesia. She doesn't remember anyone, she barely even remembers her own name.
Kamryn comes as often as she can and has brought things from her house to try and jog her memory.
They say she might regain it but they doubt it. She might be able to go home soon, her vitals are stable and she is healthy again other than her memory.
She doesn't remember meeting me and I have barely talked to her other than when she woke up and bringing her food. I don't know what to say to her anymore.' Alyssa closed the notebook and sighed a bit.
