We walked through the door to James's house, and was relieved. It wasn't huge! I sighed with relief. "Mom, we're home!" James yelled. I liked this house. A medium sized living room, and kitchen, with an upstairs and a hallway.
I was lost in my thoughts when I was tackled by something or someone. I was on the floor and someone was on top of me. " Ow" I mumbled. I opened my eyes to find another pair in front of me.
" Oh I'm so sorry dear, I'm very clumsy," said James's mom.
" It's fine, but please get off of me," I said running out of breath.
" Oh, of course dear." She struggled off of me.
James offered his hand to me. I grabbed it and stood up. " I'm sorry about my mom, I'm more of a mother to her then she is to me." James said.
"Hi it's nice to meet you I'm Katherine, James's mom. But you may call Kathy." She said introducing herself with a smile.
" Hi I'm Camillia Bates, but they call me Camie." I motioned towards the two boys. I looked around, I thought I would see his sisters running around. " So where your sisters?" I asked.
"Jeff went to take them over to grandma's since we were having company," Kathy explained.
"Oh," I mumbled.
" So what would you like for dinner?" Kathy asked walking into the kitchen.
" Whatever's good with with you!" Ray said happily.
" Ok!" Kathy yelled from the kitchen.
We walked to the living room. " Hey where's your bag for tomorrow? Didn't you pack a pair of clothes?" Ray asked.
"My dad said they would bring them when they came over," I said bluntly.
Then we heard a car door shut. "Sounds like dad's home," James said tiredly.
" Where's the new girl!?" I heard Jeff say as he flew through the door. Now I see where James got his enthusiasm from.
" Dad calm down, she's over here," James said calmly. Then Jeff looked over towards us. James's eyes grew wide with realization. " Camie, RUN!" James and Ray said together. I just sat there I didn't know what was going on. Then Jeff ran towards me, and gave me a hug. He started to twirl around.
" Wow,you're adorable! I knew they would be lady's men. So when's the wedding?!" he kept spinning in circles. I got dizzy real fast.
"Dad!" "Jeff" "LET HER GO!" James and Ray said together.
He stopped and let me go. He rubbed his neck shyly. " I'm sorry I didn't mean to upset you."
I was stumbling everywhere. " It's fine but I need a seat fast before I fall." Caine led me to a chair while James and Ray were scolding Jeff.
" Let's try that again, hi I'm Jeffery Johnson. Most just call me Jeff. And what's your name young lady?" He asked.
"Um..I'm Camillia Bates, but they call me Camie," I said trying to shake his hand. I'm still dizzy. " Well it's nice to meet you!" Jeff said excitingly.
We talked for a while, then two more cars showed up. Sure enough it was Ray and Caine's parents and my own. My parents were the first to walk through the door my brother following them. James and Ray jumped at the chance. They both got on each side of Brady, each putting one elbow on his shoulder, and said together," Hi Krillin! "
Brady's face grew red with anger. " I've told you that's not my name!" he said angrily.
"Don't let anger consume you," Ray started.
" Or your life will be full of hatred and pain," James finished.
" Whatever," Brady mumbled and started to walk away from them defeated. They both came back to where I was sitting and sat down on either side of me. Both snickering.
Then Ray and Caine's dad came up to me. I stood up and held out my hand,"Hello sir, I'm Camillia Bates they call me Camie. Nice to meet you." He looked at me showing no emotion. I didn't know what to think or say.
A smile then grew on his face and he shook my hand," I'm Travis Collins. It's nice that my son has found a nice young lady," he looked at my necklace while saying that.
I was confused, I was Ray's friend. What could he have meant by that? Travis started laughing. " Don't sweat over it, there's no need-" he was cut off by Ray hurrying him over to meet my father. I sat back down next to James.
" Why was Travis laughing?" I asked James. He looked at me confused. That changed into a smirk on his face.
" Travis, well he's pretty smart but has his flaws," he said.
" That didn't answer my question," I mumbled as I looked the other way.
" Oh, come on don't be mad. Think of it as a riddle, you'll figure out what it means soon," he said. I took it as an apology, which it was.
I looked at him and sighed, "Fine, I'll solve the stupid riddle."
"Now that's the Camie I know! You can't stay mad at me even if you tried!" he said happily. I couldn't help but smile.
Then Caine came up to us. " Hey, my mother wants to meet you, and she's getting along well with your mom." He looked towards the two of them talking. His attention turned back to me. "Come on, let's go!" He said while grabbing my wrist. We walked up to the both of them. " I got her!" Caine said happily.
"I'm not something to be caught," I mumbled.
" Oh how wonderful !" She held out her hand. " I'm Rebecca Collins, it's nice to meet you. My sons had made a beautiful young friend," she said with a smile.
I shook her hand," Its nice to meet you too. I'm Camillia Bates, but they like to call me Camie." I smiled.
Then she noticed my necklace. " Who gave you that necklace?" she asked.
"Ray gave this to me," I said.
"Oh, ok." And that's all she said. I stared at her confused, but dad suddenly pulled me to the side where no one was at.
" What was that for?" I asked rubbing my shoulder.
He had a serious look on his face. This can't be good I thought. "Camillia," Dad started. please don't leave me with that. His serious look turned into a happy smile on his face. "I think you've made wonderful friends, and I trust the parents. You can stay over tonight."
I was shocked. My dad was stern and strict. He's finally let loose. I smiled and gave him a hug. " Thanks dad," I said into his shirt. He hugged me back.
" Now, go get your stuff in the car. It should be in the front," he said pushing me towards the door. I ran to the car grabbing my stuff from the front seat.
When I came in everyone was in the dining room. I sat my stuff down, and went to join them. Supper must be done I can't wait to eat.
" Hey Camie! sit here," Ray said pointing to the seat that was in between him and James. I sighed, it seemed that they always needed me to be around them. I walked over and sat down.
" Dinner's ready!" Kathy said bringing food to the table. I almost drooled at the sight. Steak, mashed potatoes, corn, and rice! I love rice!
" This looks delicious!" I said.
" You're too excited over something as small as food." Travis said.
" You should always care for the smaller things in life, or you over look them." Ray said bluntly.
"What are you a poet?" I mumbled.
"Well, everyone dig in!" Jeff said excitingly.
Everyone ate dinner and talked. Afterwards everyone left.Ray, and James played video games. I watched until I fell asleep on the couch. The last thing I heard was," Could she be the one? The next Tiress?"
