That night, Zeus came home early. The second he walked through the door, he pulled me into his lap. Thor, who sits on the opposite couch, gave me an unamused look. Lucifer scared the shite out of Zeus, but he didn't mind him. Lucifer, as it turns out, loves to play with hair. He loves messing with my horns too.
"Why do you have horns?" Thor asks "I didn't know Jotun had horns." he said softly... but something is off about him.
"Horns in Jotunheim is like facial hair." I states "Some have it, the others don't." he simply nods and looks back to the telle.
When it's time to go to bed, I bury my face in Zeus's neck and he whispers "I love you." I simply hum in recognition and fall asleep.
~
At 4am, I roll over in bed to find it cold and empty. "Zeus?" I whisper, poking my head up. The bathroom light if off "Zeus?" I ask a little louder.
When I don't get a response, I throw on some pajama pants and walk out into the living room. He's not here.
For some reason, both sadness and happiness wash over me as I sit on the couch, clutching my stomach. "Should I feel terrible?" I ask myself "I mean, he is the father of my children..."
Groaning, I turn on the telle and flip a few channels. I don't really watch the telle, I just sit there and think about how I'll tell them.
When I sense a soul walking up the stairs, I freeze. It's Zeus. The door opens and he smiles "What are you doing up?" he asks, putting a pizza box on the counter.
I clear my throat "I could ask you the same thing." I give him a glare and his face softens.
"I couldn't sleep." he sighs "So I went on a walk down to that pizza parlor a few blocks down." he shrugs and takes a slice of pizza out of the box "I'll probably regret it later... I already ate a whole pizza."
"Yeah." I scuff "You're going to be spending some time in the bathroom, love." I walk forward and snag a piece "So, why the restless stroll? You usually only do that when you have something on your mind."
He shrugs "It's nothing really..." he sighs "I'm just stressed at work, I guess..."
"Well..." I put the slice down and walk towards him, wrapping my arms around his neck "How about we release some of that energy?"
He bites his lip "I'd love too, but I'm too tired right now." he kisses my forehead and whispers "Lets go to bed."
~
"Loki, baby?" Zeus shakes me awake "I'm off to work. I'm going to be late tonight."
I sigh "Okay, just, I have to tell you something when you get home." I brush his hair with my fingers "Hopefully you'll love it."
He smiled weakly down at me "Can't wait." He gives me a small goodbye, before leaving me alone, in bed, completely naked.
Groaning, I look down at myself. The tent in the blanket is unbareable. The heat in the room makes it impossible to think straight "Is this the heat the book was talking about?" I ask myself. After a quick glance at the door to make sure it's shut, I get to work.
Not two minutes later, I'm covered in sweat and basking in bliss. Naturally, Thor busts in "Brother, I was wond-" he stops dead in his tracks and I stare him straight in the eye.
~
I breathe heavily as I collapse on the bed. Shaking my head, I look to Thor "This was the last time." I order.
"So, what happened last night?" he asks, still trying to catch his breath "I heard you two this morning."
I groan "I don't know, Thor!" I state "And I don't want to talk about it, okay?" I sigh "Why do you care all the sudden?" he looks at me questionably "Before now, we didn't question me this much."
