When I drove into my usual parking spot, I heard the sound of thunder and spotted a flash of lightning in the distance. It had already began to sprinkle. It always seemed to be storming or raining here in Seattle.

As soon as I stepped out of my old rusty pickup truck, the rain started coming down rapidly in large drops. Just lovely.

By the time I had reached the door of the diner, I was already drenched from head to toe. Being the forgetful loser that I am, I left my jacket back at home.

As I opened the door, Jake greeted me with a warm, friendly smile. He has been my best friend since the third grade. We are now, soon-to-be freshman in college. I gave him a hateful look as I squeezed the remaining water out of my long, blonde hair. I watched as the water dripped onto the floor in smally drops.

I walked towards the back of the diner, every step I took made that annoying squeaking sound. The ear-ringing squeak instantly gave me a flashback of a cartoon I had enjoyed as a young child. I smiled remembering all the early Sunday mornings me and my mom woke up at the crack of dawn to watch the cartoons.

I felt all eyes on me as I continued to squeak across the red and black-checkered floor. I could feel color rising up to my cheeks, as they slowly got warmer by the second. Could this afternoon get any worse? To save me the embarrassment, I quickly dashed behind the counter.

"You look like crap,Jake practically yelled. I noticed that everyone who was working turned around to face me. Some of them even snickered like little girls. I shot them all death glares. They got my point and slowly turned away.

"Thanks for boosting my self-confidence, jerk." I replied, in response to Jake. I let out a long sigh as he smirked tatuntingly not taking his eyes off of mine. I couldn't stand the stare down any longer so I yanked my eyes down to the floor.

"Anytime Kay," he grinned, chuckling under his breath. This really got under my skin so I rolled my eyes and walked off. For him to be my best friend, he sure was annoying.

Since my hair was already soaked and looking like crap, I decided to pull it up in a messy bun. It was Friday, and I decided to straighten and wear my hair down this morning. Bad decision number two, not wearing a jacket being the first.

I reachede for the notepad in my pocket and placed it into my left hand. I grabbed a ink pen from the cup as I walked back to the front of the diner.

I walked over to a booth by the door  a man was seated at. He was probably in his early twenties, but his scruffy whiskers gave me the impression that he was much older than what he probably is. As I approached him, he looked me up and down. Creep. That was the first word that popped into my head.

I tried to force a smile. "May I take your order sir?" I asked politely, trying to avoid contact as much as possible, while doing so. I clicked the pen and stood waiting for him to tell me what he wanted to order.

The man smirked, "Yeah, I would just like a black coffee please." His eyes continued to scan over my slender body. He was probably trying to undress me in his mind. Gross. I hesitantly scribbled the words black coffee on the white pad.

"Okay, I'll be back shortly." I felt eyes on me as I walked off. Wait, correction; I could feel HIS eyes on me as I walked off. I decided to risk a quick glance over my shoulder and sure enough, he was staring at me. I shuddered at his almost smug expression.

I've seen this man somewhere before. He looks very familiar. The thing is though; I can't come up with a name or the place where I had seen him.

I was getting more uncomfortable by the minute, so I skipped quickly over to where Jake was sitting. He obviously wasn't doing his job, because he was to engrossed in his game of angry birds. I seriously have no idea how this boy can keep a job. He's lucky I talked the manager into hiring him.

"Hey Jake?"

"Yeah," he shot back.

"Do you see that man over there seated closest to the door?"' I questioned, darting my eyes quickly over to where the he was sitting. He flipped the page of the newspaper and continued to scan over the black print.

"Yeah, what about him?" He answered back, not even bothering to look up from his game.

"Well, he is seriously creeping me out," I replied under my breath, Its just that I get a wierd feeling when I get anywhere around him."

"You're just overreacting, Kay." Jake confronted. He was probably right. Ever since I woke up and saw the man outside my window, I would overreact at the littlest things. If any man just glanced at me longer than normal I would become paranoid, and start thinking that they were probably the man I had witnessed.

I decided to just shrug it off and go pour the man his coffee. I took the coffee pot to his booth, and didn't utter a word the entire time. I placed the coffee mug a little harder than I should have causing him to jump out of shock.

He gave me a tiny smile as he removed his attention from the newspaper article.  I ignored his friendly gesture and just walked off. He probably thought I was being rude, but I honestly didn't give a care in the world about what he thought or thinks. I had been through enough the last couple of weeks.

The rest of the night went pretty slow, but before I knew it, there were only ten minutes left on the clock until our shift was over. I glanced over to the door, and noticed that the man was still sitting in his booth.

That was strange, but as I looked closer I noticed he had a small laptop placed in front of him. He was probably just got caught up in his work. However, as soon as I started to ask Jake about him, the man walked up to the cash register quickly.

"Do me a favor and give this to the pretty lady." The man said, tossing a quick wink over his shoulder, as he left the diner and headed out into the night. I made a gagging face as I watched him hop into his vehicle.

"Hey Kay! The man you were so creeped out by just gave you a tip of $50!" Jake exclaimed. Why would someone leave a tip of fifty dollars? That's crazy! Not that I'm complaining though. I now have enough money to buy gas for an entire week. Heck yeah!

The clock finally struck 2 A.M. Our work shift had finally come to an end. It was about time too, there was a few times where I began to doze off on the job; I am so exhausted. Thank the lord that tomorrow is the beginning of the weekend.

Jake and I started to head for the door. We paused before exiting the building. The waer continued to pour from the sky in huge drops.

"Here you can wear this since you don't have one." Jake said, handing over his warm jacket.

"Thanks Jake." I muttered quietly, as I pulled the American Eagle hoodie over my torso. It is huge on me. You can't even see my hands because the sleeves are so long, but at least it smells good.

He also walked me to my truck. It was weird to see Jake actually act like a gentleman. I rarely got to see that side of him.

I drove home in silence as I listened to the pitter, patter of the raindrops splattering against the windshield of my rusty, red Ford truck. I can't wait to finally arrive home. I'm looking forward to hopping under my soft covers, and getting a good nights rest.
