elle -a few months later-
"marli chill outttt." i sigh as she screams her lungs off. i sway side to side, she doesn't calm down.
"you were just so giggly four seconds ago." i say to her. she continues to cry. i blow my hair out of my face and hold her in a cradle position.
"your fine marli." i say, rubbing her cheek. she isn't feeling well but there's not much i can do about it. we've already taken her to the doctors and she's said it's just a cold.
"alright babes." i say, adjusting her so she's on my chest. i bounce side to side, rubbing her back as i do so. that's when i hear the front door open and close.
"it sounds like a mad house in here." i head Jack say. i look at him as he walks down the hall towards us.
"it is." i say. he laughs and sets his keys and phone down and takes off his jacket.
"is she not feeling well?" he asks. i shake my head. Jack motions for me to give her to him, i do so.
"hey princess." he says to her, kissing her cheek. she almost simultaneously calms down to just a whimper.
"asshole." i say to Jack. he laughs.
"she's a daddy's girl." he says, holding her in a chair position.
"we should have another one." i say, sitting down at the island. Jack looks at me.
"before or after the wedding?" he asks. i shrug.
"whenever." i say.
"do you really want another one?" he asks. i nod.
"i miss my belly." i say and pout
"the belly you had six months ago." he says. i laugh. he smiles.
"i'm cool with another one." he says nodding.
"ok great. i'm pregnant." i say. he stops swaying and looks at me.
"what?" he asks. i smile.
"wait what?" he asks again.
"no i'm kidding." i say laughing. he smiles fades
"dude. don't do that. my heart skipped like a hundred beats." he says. i laugh.
"i didn't want you to drop marli." i smile.
"i would've!" he exclaims. i laugh and get up, walking to him.
"i'm sorry to get your hopes up." i say, cupping his face and bringing him down. i give him a quick kiss and then pull away, taking marli from him.
"do you feel up to eat?" i ask her. she hiccups and smiles.
"oh now your all giggly." i say, repeatedly kissing her cheek. she giggles.
"alright. say see you soon dad." i say, taking her hand and waving to Jack. he waves back.
"i'll be right back." i tell him and he nods, kissing my forehead. i grab marli's teddy bear and then walk down the hall and upstairs to her nursery. i sit down in the rocking chair and lay her in my arms. she closes her eyes and i laugh.
"are you not hungry?" i ask, tapping her cheek. she smiles.
"are you fake sleeping?" i ask, tickling her stomach. she giggles and opens her eyes.
"hey there." i say smiling. she pulls on my shirt. i laugh and get situated so she can eat.
