elle -a few days later-
"why are you never home anymore?" i ask Jack, walking into the kitchen with the bottles. he glances at me and then back to what he's washing.
"i've been busy." he says, setting the bottles on the drying rack
"i think this is the first time since the babies were born that i've had you home for more then 4 hours." i say.
"i'm really focused on music right now." he says.
"well can you be really focused on your three newborn girls for a little?" i ask.
"elle." he says.
"Jack." i say back.
"i can't take care of 5 kids by myself." i say. i set the bottles in the sink and then walk out of the kitchen and back to the living room. the girls are in their swings, dozing off. bryson and marli are cuddling, watching lilo and stitch on the tv. i take this time to quickly pick up and start on some of the kids laundry. having triplets is like having 3 puppies. your constantly washing things. i think i can do laundry on a monday but by tuesday night i'll have to do it again.
"do you want me to do that?" i hear Jack ask from behind me. i tuck my hair behind my ear.
"it's only a little. i got it." i say, tossing the onesies in.
"i'm sorry if you feel like i don't want to be home." he says, leaning on the dryer. i glance at him and then back at the laundry.
"do you not want to be?" i ask.
"i want to be. i just think i'm a lot more scared about being a dad now, then when we just had bryson and marli. i now have three little babies a little bigger then my hand." he says. i laugh softly.
"i'm scared too Jack. but this is life. and i kinda don't wanna go through it alone." i say. he sighs and pulls me to him.
"and you won't. i promise." he says. i nod and he leans down, giving me a soft kiss
"momma! baby!" i hear marli yell. Jack laughs.
"i got this one." he says. i smile and step away from him. he kisses my head and then walks down the hall.
"hurry!" i hear marli yell.
"i'm coming. i'm coming." Jack say. i smile and then quickly finish loading the washer. once i'm done, marli comes running to me.
"hi mamas." i say.
"daddy's not good." she says, shaking her head. i laugh.
"i know." i say. she giggles and then pulls me down the hall towards the living room.
"elle!" i hear Jack yell. i laugh.
"coming!"
