elle -an hour later-
"are you guys coming back to ours?" i ask, looking at everyone.
"i have no choice." bri says.
"i know about you dumb dumb." i say. she laughs.
"i may come over for a little." hayes says.
"i have no choice either." tez says.
"i have to meet up with ben." sammy says.
"i'll come." johnson says with a smile. i laugh.
"i'm swimming." tez says.
"that's fine with me." i say back. i hand marli to Jack and he puts her in the car seat. everyone starts to leave and i grab marli's car seat.
"let me get it." Jack says.
"no." i say, smacking his arm away playfully. he grabs my waist and tickles me. i laugh and squirm. he then picks up the car seat.
"your so dumb." i say. he kisses my cheek and i grab the diaper bag from bri.
"let's go little sis." i say, throwing my arm around her. she laughs and walks with me. we walk outside and to my car. Jack puts marli in and i make sure it's secure.
"i'll see you at home." i say. Jack nods and gives me a kiss and then walks to his car. bri gets in the back with marli and buckled up and i get in the front, buckling up as well.
"here we goooo." i say, backing out and heading down the road.
as i pull onto the highway, i groan, seeing all the traffic
"yay. we hit rush hour." i say sarcastically, as the lane comes to a slow movement.
"at least it's still moving." bri says.
"be quiet." i say with a laugh. i tires squeaking.
"uh oh." i say, thinking there's an accident further up the road, but then, the car jerks forward and we hit the car in front of us.
"oh my god!" bri exclaims
"are you ok?" i ask her.
"yea i'm fine. or you ok?" she asks.
"yea. is marli fine?" i ask. just then, we get hit again
"holy shit!" i exclaim. i pull off to the side and the car in front of us and behind us do the same thing. marli starts to cry. i put the car in park and turn it off and then quickly get out and go to the back.
"get out." i tell bri. she nods and gets out. i take marli out of her car seat.
"oh my god. you have a baby." the lady from the car in front of us says as she sees marli.
"are you guys ok?" she asks.
"yea. yea. are you?" i ask. she nods. a dude and his wife get out from the car behind us.
"is the baby ok?" the wife asks.
"yea. she's just shaken up." i say. she nods.
"what happened?" the lady in the front car asks.
"the guy behind us wasn't paying attention i guess it was going to fast and hit us, which caused us to hit you and so on. and then a car behind him, was speeding and hit him he hit and so on so forth." he says. i hear sirens and see two cops and a fire engine. i walk around the car and to bri who is crying.
"it's ok." i say, side hugging her. she just cries on my shoulder.
"is everyone alright?" the cop asks.
"she has a baby." the wife says and points to me.
"go ahead and go up there to the fire engine and let them make sure you guys at ok." the cop tells us. i nod but quickly grab my phone out of the car. i then grab bri's hand and we walk to the fire engine.
"can i see her?" the girl fire fighter asks. i nod and set marli in her arms.
"are you guys ok? did you hit anything?" a guy asks, coming up to bri and i.
"no. we're ok." i say. he nods but takes bri and sits her down. as bri and the baby are getting checked out, i call Jack. after a few rings, johnson answers.
"hey gurllll." he says.
"where's Jack?" i ask
"driving. what's wrong?" he asks.
"what happened?" i hear Jack ask in the back ground
"your in speaker." johnson says again
"ok. uh. we just got in a car accident on highway 10." i say.
"what?! are you guys ok?" Jack asks.
"we're fine. everyone's fine. they're just checking on the baby and bri." i say.
"the baby? what happened?" johnson asks.
"nothing. the baby is fine. she was strapped down in her car seat. she was just a little scared. it's really complicated. the guy behind us got him by a car behind them, which was the first time. and then are car behind the guy who was behind the guy behind us, hit rear ended him again, and then it was just like, a domino effect." i say.
"ok. do you need me to come get you guys?" he asks.
"um." i walk over to my car.
"yea. yea you do." i say.
"ok. highway 10?" Jack asks.
"yea." i say.
"and you guys are fine?" Jack asks.
"yea we're fine. we all had our seat belts on and stuff. i'm just shaken up." i say.
"and bri was crying." i say.
"ok. i'm coming towards you guys. i'll see you in a minute." he says.
"ok. love you." i say.
"love you too." Jack says. i hang up and walk back to bri.
"i'm gonna go check in marli. are you ok?" i ask. she nods.
"yea. it was just scary." she says. i nod. i lean down and kiss her cheek.
"i'll be right back." i say. she nods. i walk down the way a little to the ambulance that now has marli in the little stretcher bed. the girl who took marli sees me.
"here the mom." she says and motions to me.
"so everything checks out. she's fine." she tells me. i nod. the guy gets out of the ambulance and hands her over to me.
"thank you." i say. she nods. i walk away and back to bri. the guy that was checking on her, quickly gives me a small check up.
"alright. can you guys give me a run down on what happened?" an officer asks, coming up to us.
"um. i remember hearing tires screeching and then we just jerked forward and hit the other car. and then it happened again." i say. he nods, writing it down.
"what even happened?" i ask.
"so the first drive that crash was on their phone and didn't realize traffic stopped. the second drive was speeding and didn't have time to stop." he says. i nod.
"was anyone hurt?" i ask.
"the first driver suffered pretty minor injuries. a few cuts and scratches. the other driver is on their way to the hospital with a broken bone i believe." he says. i nod.
"thankfully no one was killed. it could've been a lot worse." he says. i nod again.
"the people behind you were sayin that their first concern was the baby. because of you sticker." he says. i have a baby on board sticker on the back of my car. in case of situations like this, except worse.
"i was too." i say. he laughs.
"is she all good?" he asks.
"yea. she's fine." i say, looking down at her.
"good good. alright we'll do you guys have a ride?" he asks.
"yea my boyfriend is coming to pick us up." i say.
"alright. just let him know to pull up in front of the ambulance. and i would say get what ever you need from inside the vehicle." he says. i nod and thank him. he nods and then walks off.
"let's go get our stuff." i tell bri. she nods and we walk over to the car. i set marli back in her car seat and buckle her up, then take out the car seat and then little thing that i latches to. bri grabs the diaper bag, her phone, my keys and a few other things. we then close the doors and i walk over to the other side.
"whelp. we're gonna be sore tomorrow morning." i say. she nods with a soft laugh. i see jack's car pass us and pull up in front of everything.
"there he is." i say. we make our way to the car. Jack gets out and walks to us.
"that look really bad." he says. i nod and hug him.
"i'm so glad you guys are ok." he says, bring bri into the hug. she laughs.
"same here." she says. we all pull away and walk to the car. i set marli's car seat up and secure her in. bri sets the stuff under our feet.
"i'm gonna go make sure it's ok to leave." i say to Jack. he nods and i walk back down to where everyone is.
"hey. i just wanted to check if it ok to leave." i ask a girl officer. she nods.
"yea. did we get all your information?" she asks.
"yea." i say with a nod.
"alright. then your good to go." she says. i thank her as the lady the was in front of me, walks up to me.
"is the baby alright?" she asks. i smile
"yes. she's great." i say. she nods.
"i didn't know you had a baby and when you took her out, you know my heart dropped." she says. i nod.
"mine did too when it first happened." i say. she nods.
"well. i just wanted to check. you have a blessed day alright?" she says.
"you too." i say with a smile. i then walk off and back to Jack's car.
"ready?" jack asks.
"yea." i say. he then pulls off. my phone the. starts to ring. it's hayes. i press answer and put it on speaker.
"where the hell are you guys?" he asks.
"chill. bri and i got in an accident." i say.
"what?!" he exclaims.
"are you guys ok? is bri ok? is the baby ok?" he asks. i smile and look at bri. she covers her face.
"bri is fine. she was a little shaken up. the baby is fine. she was shaken up too." i say.
"what happened?" he asks.
"we got rear ended, twice." i say.
"damn. do you guys need a ride?" he asks.
"Jack just came and picked me and the baby up." i say, purposely leaving out bri.
"where's bri? do i need to pick her up?" he asks.
"no. she's with us too. but she says thank you for the offer." i say. he laughs. i smile at bri and she shakes her head.
"where head to the house right now so we'll be there soon." i say.
"ok. see you guys in a bit." he says.
"alrighty." i say. we say our goodbyes and then i hang up. i put my head back and look at marli.
"momma wants to sleep." i say to her. she gives me a gummy smile.
"that's cute as hell." bri says. i laugh and nod. i then end up falling asleep the rest of the way.
