elle -two months later-
i'm now 4 months and blooming. which isn't fun at all. my belly is about the size of what a regular pregnancy would look like at 9 months. moral of the story is, i'm huge for how little along i am.
"excuse me ma'am, are you 9 months?" bri asks as she walks into the kitchen. i flip her off. she laughs and side hugs me.
"you need to sit down." she says, rubbing my belly. i shake my head.
"i wanna help you guys move and shit." i say.
"no. your 9 months pregnant." she jokes.
"shut up." i say and shove her playfully.
"i seriously can't believe your only like 4 months." she says. i nod.
"neither can i." i say.
"are they moving?" she asks.
"sometimes. i get like a flutter or a little kick over here but it's very very faint." i say. she nods
"now when are you due?" she asks.
"i could go full term or the earliest i could be is 34 weeks and they'd have to spend time in the nicu." i say.
"but i could also be 36 weeks. which would be my best bet because they would spend like, 3 or so days depending on how little they are in the nicu." i say. she nods.
"and names?" she asks.
"we have one girl name. and marli inspired it because she's been having a thing with saying 'nevada'. so we have nevada as a girls name. and a potential boy name is-"
"liam." Jack interrupts. i nod, motioning to him.
"i bet hayes 50 bucks that you were having all girls." bri says. i look at hayes and he shakes his head.
"two boys and a girl. i'm calling it." hayes says nodding.
"i think two girls and one boy." jazmin butts it.
"i have to agree with bri." i say.
"imma say, all boys. then we got liam, noah and mason." Jack says, counting on his fingers.
"since when did you come up with these names?" i ask.
"the same day i came up with nevada, emma and mia." he says. i throw my arms up.
"i only agreed on nevada." i say.
"i got it!" johnson exclaims
"nevada, colorado and california." he says. i flip him off. he laughs.
"nevada, amelia and scarlet." bri names.
"i like those." i say nodding. Jack shrugs.
"mine are better but i guess." he says and rolls his eyes.
"i got to carry these babies for 8.5 months. you get no say alright?" i say to him.
"you wouldn't have had those babies if it wasn't for me. so i get to help." he says
"you did help. you picked nevada." i say. he huffs.
"marli technically chose that." he says.
"and marli wouldn't have been here with out you so that was basically you choice." i say. the girls laugh.
"she has a point." bri agrees.
"and you guys have an appointment." sammy says, pointing to Jack and i.
"already?" i ask. jazmin nods.
"2:10." she says. i sigh.
"come on i'll help you put your shoes on." bri says.
"your so rude." i say with a laugh.
"so do you not need help?" she asks. i roll my eyes.
"yes i do."
—at the doctors—
"ok so we have multiple outcomes here. we could have two boys and one girl. two girls and one boy. three boys. three girls. what are you guys voting on?" my doctor asks. bri raises her hand. we brought bri and hayes along since they're gonna be the god parents of the triplets.
"bri you don't have to raise your hand." i say. she laughs.
"i'm voting all girls." she says.
"alright. you?" the doctor asks, looking at hayes.
"two boys and a girl." hayes says nodding.
"dad?" she asks.
"all boys." Jack says, as if it's a fact. i roll my eyes.
"mama?" she asks looking at me.
"all girls." i say. she nods.
"let's have a look shall we?" she asks. i nod. she puts he jelly on my lower stomach and then presses the little thing on it. one of the babies kicks.
"oh. hello here." the doctor says. i laugh watching the screen.
"alright so what i can tell you is, they'll be identical. you can see that they aren't in three separate spots but all together in the bubble." she says. i nod.
"so three identical little...." she trails and moves the things around.
"so dad, looks like it is not all boys. you do have a little girl here." she says. Jack smiles.
"marli gets a little sister." i say to him. he laughs.
"not two boys. you have another little girl here." she says, pointing to the monitor.
"are you crying?" i hear bri ask. i look at Jack his eyes are red
"no. dust flew in them." he says. i laugh and grab his hand.
"ready for the last one?" she asks. i nod.
"looks like you be having three, identical little girls. congratulations you guys." she says with a smile. i look at jack
"i told you." i say and stick my tongue out at him. he rolls his eyes
"bryson's gonna be pissed." Jack says. i laugh.
"you owe me 50 bucks." bri says to hayes. he shakes his head with a smile.
"do you wanna head heart beats?" she asks. i nod.
"you might only be able to hear one. you might hear all three. it depends on how the babies are positioned." she says. i nod. she press a few buttons and then the heart beat starts to play. and that's when i get emotional. she moves it around and we start to hear two heart beats.
"so those are two of the little girls. they are beating at different rates." she says. i nod. she moves it around a little more but we could only hear two.
"so your third little one is hiding. but she's moving a lot." she says, pointing to the screen. i smile. bri wipes my tears and i laugh. i look at Jack.
"ready to paint a room pink?" i ask. everyone laughs and he smiles at me.
"always."
