Anakin and Obi-Wan arrived at and boarded the elevator that will take them to the Chancellor's office with much enthusiasm and curiosity. As they were on the elevator, the two began speaking to each other once again.

Anakin:I can't believe I'm about to meet the Chancellor once again

Anakin:I can't believe I'm about to meet the Chancellor once again.
Obi-Wan:Yes, it's only been three years since we first met him and it still feels like it's been a while.
Anakin:I know right, I just can't wait to see him again. I liked him.
Obi-Wan:Me as well. He's a very educated man from the Palpatine family.
Anakin:The Palpatine family? I heard that the head, his wife, and his other children were all murdered or died in an accident. The only one left of that lineage was the Chancellor himself.
Obi-Wan:Yes. I've heard it too. It's really unknown of how it happened but we'll probably never know.
Anakin:Yeah. Still though, they must have been pretty popular due to their influence over Nabbo.
Obi-Wan:Yes. Thankfully, the Chancellor doesn't act spoiled around others that are with him. He must be very humbled and bright.
Anakin:I'll bet. To be honest, master, I'm kinda nervous.
Obi-Wan:Don't be. He's a very kind and honest man.
Anakin:Honestly, I haven't been this nervous since our first mission together.
Obi-Wan:Yes. In the end, we managed to pull through. You're growing more and more sure of yourself,  Anakin, and I am very grateful for you're achievements as well as how far you've come.
Anakin:Thank you, Master.
Later on, the elevator soon arrived to the main floor of the building, Chancellor Palpatine's office. The two Jedi arrived to speak with the Chancellor as the man turned his seat around to face the peacekeepers.

Palpatine:Well, if it isn't the Jedi prodigy I watched earlier and his master.
Anakin:Nice to meet you, Chancellor, and thank you.
Obi-Wan:Me as well.
Obi-Wan and Anakin talked with the supposedly humble Chancellor of The Republic to find that most of what they heard about him were true. After a few moments speaking with the Chancellor, Anakin finally asked about the special mission for him personally.
Anakin:Chancellor, just wondering, what is this mission consisting of?
Palpatine:Just an escort with me, young one. I feel you are capable, for someone you're age, to take on this type of assignment.
Obi-Wan:If you wish so, Chancellor. Anakin, if you get into any huge trouble, you have you're comlink, right?
Anakin:Yes, master.
Obi-Wan:Very well, carry on you two.
Obi wan then left the office and headed back to the Jedi temple, leaving Anakin and Palpatine to themselves.
Palpatine:Well, Anakin, in two hours we'll be off.
Anakin:Ok then.
Anakin, wanting to get to know the Chancellor, asked him a question.
Anakin:Chancellor, if you don't mind me asking, how is being Chancellor of The Republic? It's pretty difficult, isn't it.
Palpatine:Yes. Managing the lives of millions is no easy assignment and being the head of the government of millions of planets, possibly the entire galaxy, isn't a cakewalk ether. But, the satisfaction of knowing the galaxy is still in one piece is why I sleep better at night. Although I can't get to everyone in the galaxy, I still do what I can.
Anakin:Wow, I'm honestly glad I'm not Chancellor.
Palpatine:Honestly, I believe no one wants to be in my place. But, someone has too. If no one does, who will?
Anakin:True.
Anakin made his way to the window, looking out into the distance as he did so. Noticing something off about the young Padawan, Palpatine asked Anakin about his life at the Jedi Academy.
Palpatine:Anakin, are you happy at the temple?

Anakin turned to face Palpatine as he turned his gaze from the buildings and streets of Coruscant.
Anakin:Yeah, it's all I've ever wanted in my life. I was a slave on Tatooine with my mother for as long as I can remember. One day, I lost the most important person in my life to a gang related incident and I was alone. Luckily, the Jedi found me and took me into the order. I couldn't be any more grateful for my dream coming true.
Palpatine:I see. I understand that you see the life of a Jedi as your new life.
Anakin:Yes, I honestly don't know what I wouldn't do without the Jedi's guidance.
Palpatine:Are you sure that's how you feel?
Anakin:Yes. I wouldn't want it any other way.
Palpatine:Are you sure?
Palpatine asked as he gave Anakin a look that told the Padawan not to lie to him.
Anakin:"sighs"I don't feel belonged here. Some of the Padawans and Masters at the temple clearly act like they have a problem with me and I don't know why.
Palpatine:Me nether. Even master Windu seems to not like you and he acts like Qui Gon made a mistake enrolling you into the academy.
Anakin made a look of anger as Palpatine told him about what Windu said about him. He turned around from Palpatine as he didn't want the Chancellor to see his anger. He was so frustrated by the fact that Mace thinks of him as a mistake. However, after he silently cooled himself down, Anakin turned back around and spoke again.
Anakin:The only people at the temple that I trust and call my friend is Obi-Wan. He's the one who doesn't give me weird looks all the time or just flat out ignores me.
Palpatine:Really?
Anakin:Yes. But, I also met some new friends of mine. Their names are Serra and Kento. Even though I just met them, they seem really cool.
Palpatine:That's nice, Anakin. I see you've found some light in the darkness.
Anakin:Thank you, Chancellor.
Palpatine stood from the chair he was sitting on and began speaking to Anakin about his past.
Palpatine:You know, my father was the exact same way the Jedi masters were to you. So many expectations and rules. However, my father was also lazy and ignorant to everything as he was satisfied with how everything went. He had no motivation, no perseverance to do anything unlike me. That was mostly why I rebelled in my younger days. I didn't have a good relationship with my mother and siblings ether as my mother was nothing more than an obedient dog to my father and my siblings shared my father's narrow views on life. I wanted to strike out, be my own man who wouldn't follow some lazy path my father saw fit for me and live out nothing more than a meaningless life. Well, one day... "sighs"Let's just say a "disagreement" between him and I occurred that ended with me cutting ties with my family. When they died, I didn't care less. I was later handed the Palpatine wealth and I used my wealth to travel to Coruscant to pursue my interests in politics where I became a senator representing Alderaan. This was also thanks to my mentor, Hego Damask, a very prominent Muun magister Of Damask holdings. Unfortunately, he died due to unfortunate circumstances concerning his health. He loved wine which may have lead to his fate.
Anakin:I'm sorry, Chancellor. It must have been pretty hard for you.
Palpatine:No, it was not hard. Well, I still miss him. He was a good friend who taught me so much. In the end, however, we parted ways to pursue our own life paths and we never had gotten in touch since then. It was for the best.
After the reveal of Palpatine's past, the middle aged Chancellor looked upon the time to see that the time had come for their mission to begin.
Palpatine:Well, look at the time.
Anakin:Looks like we'll be on our way.
Palpatine:Yes, but before we go, I must change into better clothing. Will you please give a man a few moments to change? It may take a while.
Anakin:Sure thing, Chancellor. Take you're time.
Palpatine:Thank you, Anakin. Be free to do anything you'd like. You wouldn't be intruding at all. You can even take a nap on that couch if you'd like.
Anakin:Well, ok. Thank you, Chancellor.
The Chancellor then went to his private quarters to change while Anakin, while trying to fight the urge to sleep, feel asleep on the red coach he was sitting on. After the days of training, studying, and missions with his master, he hardly got enough sleep during that time. Now, he was in slumberland where his dreams took over his mindset. Sadly,  the dream he was about to have would not be anything he expected.
"This dream will be nothing short of a landscape of darkness."
