Vader was riding the elevator up to Bail's office with Sidious and TK-421 where the Stormtrooper started talking.
421:I just wanna say thank you for this opportunity. Just say the word and-
Vader:Do not become overexcited, 421. Your only here for observation, nothing more.
Sidious:Just do what Vader or I tell you. You may accept coffee or tea and a sweet or two if they offer it.
421:Yes, sirs.
Sidious:You must be really excited traveling with us, aren't you?
421:Yes. Are you kidding? I'm going on a mission with the very Emperor himself along with his second in command!
Sidious:I don't blame you.
Vader:The only thing you focus on is your duties. Don't do anything else other then those duties unless otherwise. Understood?
Vader said as he looked at the man with a stern look on his face.
421:Of course, sir.
Vader then turned around and said,
Vader:Good.
As the elevator ride continued, 421 started talking again.
421:How do you like being Emperor, Sidious?
Sidious:I beg your pardon?
421:I meant about what's it like leading us? I started working here five years ago, I know. But, I'm curious as to how you manage it all. I've never really worked under you before, even though I worked with you, Vader, in the past. So, Sidious, what's it like for you?
Sidious:It is... acceptable. Though there is tons of meetings concerning the stability of my group, Bail being one of them, as well as managing the systems, doing checks to make sure everything is going swell, and such, it's an enjoyable experience when I have time for myself. The empire is growing more stable to the point it doesn't need much of my attention, so that is a good thing. Even though being the emperor of the galaxy is taxing at times, it's worth it in the end.
Its my turn to ask you a question, TK-421. Why did you even try out for this position?
421:Well, I just want to get some experience to see what's it like to serve Emperor Sidious, ya know?
Sidious:Interesting.
The doors then opened when they reached their destination and the trio walk out if the elevator as a result. The emperor, after getting arrangements of his ready, told his second in command and the soldier to sit in the waiting room while he conducted his meeting. There, after a moment of silence between the two, a conversation started between them.
421:So, how's your day going?
Vader:Acceptable.
421:Mine's going good. My son helped Cathrine make me breakfast today so that was nice.
Vader:Your family? What's it like?
421:Well, Asher is my pride and joy as well as my wife and I's marriage. My sister can be a snarky one but a good and loving aunt. My mom gave me a lot of love and joy while my father taught me to work hard on my goals and if there's something I want in the galaxy, then I should just go out there and get it. That's one of the reasons why I joined the empire, besides the fact I wanna help the galaxy my way.
Vader:I see. Tell me, why did you introduce yourself to me during your first day? Most men would've been introduced to me ether through their successes or failures.
421:Well, I just wanted to. I don't wanna wait for life to happen in order to get what I need for myself and instead just do it. Although you can be impatient at times and you don't speak much, your really interesting.
Vader:Don't forget that we have different ranks and you should be aware of your place.
421:Ohh, I am. Don't need to worry. I only need to step in when I have to.
Vader:I am aware of that as well.
After a moment of short silence, 421 spoke again.
421:"sighs" Look, I didn't mean to do what I did that day, Vader.
Vader:But you still did what you did. I admit I had wrong in it but-
421:I should be sorry too. I shouldn't socked you across the face like that. I was stupid.
Vader, after a moment of silent hesitation, spoke.
Vader:About what you said that day, you were right. I was too impatient with her and she was already dealing with things that were far more important then her duty at the time. You had every right to stand up to me as I was in the wrong. It's not that I expect the impossible from all of you, TK-421. I only expect those under me and Sidious to follow command, not hesitate, work not to please us but to serve the galaxy better, and not be foolish.
421:Well, I respect that.
After another moment of silence between the two, they noticed a man wearing a black helmet. He was standing, back turned. Vader senses told him who it was and nudged 421 to join him in arresting the escaped convict. 421 and Vader approached him with clear caution but before they could do anything, Maul turned around to face them.
Maul:Gentlemen. Good to see you.
Maul said in that sadistic tone of his.
Vader:May we take this outside?
Maul:Of course.
The three were standing on the rooftop of the building the emperor's meeting was being held.
Maul:Is this were your deaths will happen?
421:No, its where your getting arrested.
Vader:Surrender, and the consequence of your escape may be lessened.
Maul:I am not going back to being a prisoner. Your both going to die before you get the chance.
Maul then activated his crimson double bladed lightsaber, Vader doing the same with his single bladed lightsaber.
Vader:Stay behind me. Don't attack unless ordered.
421:Sure thing.
Vader then blocked a head on attack from Maul as their duel commenced. Maul's aggressive approach towards the duel was impressive in regards to his acrobatic physic, but Vader's hardened and disciplined fighting style, superior force abilities, and calculated mindset was winning him the duel. After Vader slices through his saber, Maul avoids a strike from Vader and begins fleeting to some rooftops.
Vader:421, do not leave with me. Stay with the emperor.
421:Just take this,
The Stormtrooper said as he handed Vader a comlink.
421:and please make sure he doesn't get to the last building.
421 said as he leaves to head back to the waiting room. Vader then went into hot pursuit of Maul as they jumped from building to building. Before Maul could get to the last building, Vader force pulled him towards the ground on the building they landed on.
Vader:Its over, Maul.
Maul:Not yet.
Maul said as he grabbed a woman through the lasting building fifth window with the force and pulled her towards him.
Maul:Try anything and I drop her. Let me go, and she lives.
Vader was in deep thought, trying to process how he could save her and arrest Maul at the same time.
Maul:Nothing? Well, I give you a few more moments to think. I want an answer to decide her fate.
A few moments later, Vader says nothing.
Maul:Well, looks like we'll be seeing her on the way down.
Maul said as he let go of his grasp on the woman. Vader gave chase trying to save her, force pushing Maul out of the way as a result. As the two fell, with Vader catching the woman in the process with his arms, Maul tried to attack the two but missed in the process. A crowd turned to see Vader setting the woman down as they exited the ally where they were. Vader made a platform for them to land without injury while Maul was not so lucky.
Cathrine:Thank you. My husband Trevor talks a lot about you to me and our son. Looks like what he said about you was true.
Vader:You are safe. That is all that matters.
The scene then cuts to Sidious briefing with Vader and Trevor about what Maul was doing.
Sidious:How unfortunate. That man couldn't be saved.
Vader:No.
Trevor:What matters is that he's not able to hurt anybody anymore.
Sidious:Agreed.
Trevor:So, what was that meeting about exactly, Emperor Sidious, if I'm allowed to ask.
Sidious:Nothing too important. For your hard work today, you men may rest and enjoy your Friday's off.
Trevor:Ok then. Thank you Emperor Sidious.
Vader:Ditto.
The two men then left the room and were outside of the emperor's meeting room in his office. Suddenly, Trevor hugged Vader for a brief moment and unlocked, Vader being stunned in the process.
Trevor:Thank you. You don't know how much what you did meant to me.
Trevor then walked away to deal with business concerning his family. Vader was still at a loss for words as he honestly never expected what his trooper just did. Sure, he wasn't like other men who worked under him but his determination, hard work, and courage made due in his service. Vader had worked alongside Trevor on a few occasions and was amazed that Trevor was bold enough to fight alongside him against tough opponents that Vader felt he could handle himself, such as when the two defeated a wave of insurgents on a planet the empire was putting into check for its rebellion against it. He never really understood Trevor and its clear Trevor had difficulty understanding him. However, despite their differing personalities and work style, Vader did in fact respect the Stormtrooper as he was not only a hardworking and mostly obedient soldier, but he was also a loving family man. Vader, after this train of thought, left the area and made his way to his room.
