Anakin and Palpatine were sitting in a booth in the club they were in. While they were sitting in the booth, the young Padawan and Chancellor of the Republic began speaking to each other in tones not to attract attention.
Palpatine:Anakin, Thank you for accompanying me on this journey.
Anakin:That's kind of you, Chancellor. I honestly never knew a lot about you other then when Obi-Wan sometimes talks about you.
Palpatine:Well, there are many things you don't know about me. But, how about I get to know you first?
Anakin:Well, thank you Chancellor. As far as my training goes, it's going relatively alright. As I've said before, I don't feel that I belong in the temple because I feel some of the other Padawans are either jealous or just avoid me for some reason and the masters, back in my youngling days, acted like they didn't want me to become a great Jedi, and I feel like they still do.
Palpatine:I'm sorry to hear that.
Anakin:I mean, it's not all bad. It could be worse.
Palpatine:Well, that's nice.
Anakin:Yes, I feel I've made some great progress in my life. I just want to fulfill all the goals that I have in my life. Right now, my goal is to persevere in my training and proving my worth as a Jedi.
Palpatine:That's great, Anakin. I'm glad you have such ambition and drive in your life.
Anakin:Thank you, Chancellor. What about you?
Palpatine thought for a moment about what words to say before he spoke again.
Palpatine:Like you, I have great ambition as well despite my tumultuous past. Never allow your past to define you, Anakin, it will never end well for you if you let your past dominate your present.
Anakin:Thank you Chancellor.
Suddenly, the two heard snickering from the group in front of them.
Anakin:Who are those scumbags?
Palpatine:Just another man who doesn't deserve his spot in the senate. Suntilla System's Colandrus. He doesn't care about the state of the senate or the planet he represents as he treats it as nothing more than his personal bank account. He's nothing but a man obsessed with riches. Comes down to this place regularly to play that accursed game that he's currently playing where lives are bought and sold every day of their lives. If people like him for once lost something dear to them, then they would find that they are not above the galaxy. If only it would happen sooner.
Suddenly, when said senator Conlandrus rolled the cubes in his hands, the dice missed its spot. The senator's eyes were filled with absolute horror. He had a huge bet and knew if he lost, he would be trapped in massive debt and he would be routed out, causing him to lose all of his power in the senate. However, anger spurred quickly into him as a howling laugh by Palpatine caught his and his bodyguards attention. The senator and his guards walked furiously up to the duo.
Conlandrus:Was that a humorous moment for you?
Palpatine:"lightly chuckles"N-No, my family friend's son told me a joke and I just was left cackling from it. Besides, we didn't want any trouble and we didn't come over here get trouble. So, now we're leaving.
Conlandrus:See that you and the boy do.
The corrupt senator and his guards left them there. This signaled to the duo to leave the club and head back to the senate building, all the way back to Palpatine's office.
Palpatine:That was an interesting mission.
Anakin:I can't believe that senator will finally get what's coming to him.
Palpatine:Yes, I'm glad for that as well. However, I do wish to ask myself this question. How did those cubes reach the wrong place? Surly, that man had perfect aim.
Palpatine finished with a look that his rhetorical question signaled he knew Anakin destroyed the senator's chance at escaping his massive debt. Anakin smiled at the Chancellor as he asked Palpatine a question that's been on his mind for a while.
Anakin:Chancellor Palpatine, is it true? Do the Jedi do all they can to preserve order? Do they really care more about teaching or maintaining their ways?
Palpatine:"sighs"Well, I don't use the Jedi as a way to snuff out the corruption in the senate because those actions, I fear, would label me as a tyrant. Conlandrus isn't the only corrupt senator in the Republic and there are many senators who would step up their game from this event to keep their covers. Why eliminate a threat you know while it is filled by a threat you don't know?
Anakin:Yeah, I guess your right.
Palpatine:Thank you for escorting me, Anakin. Although it will be risky, that senator's demise in power may lead to some change for once.
Anakin:Anytime, Chancellor. Anyways, I'd better get back to the temple. See you soon, Chancellor.
Before Anakin left, Palpatine stopped him briefly for a moment to speak with him.
Palpatine:Anakin, just know that there is always a place for you here. You may come here anytime to speak with me and I'm happy to make a fine use of a young man like yourself if you decide to leave the Jedi. We would accomplish great things. However, that's up to you.
Anakin:Thank you Chancellor.
The boy left the office that day heading back to the temple. However, as soon as Anakin entered the elevator and the elevator took the young Padawan to the low floor, Palpatine smirked as he thought to himself.
Palpatine:"in thought"Yes, a fine young man indeed. Anakin, I see us doing many great things for the galaxy. Just wait and see"His thought ended with Palpatine smiling with an intent that he intends to get to know this boy more and more as time passes.
However, his intentions are far from ordinary. No, Palpatine has now developed an unnatural curiosity concerning this boy. Soon, this relationship these two have developed will form into a force that the galaxy will not. see. coming.
