A boy was sitting on a chair with his hands on a table waiting for his mother to finish cooking dinner. Shmi, the said boy's mother, was growing increasingly concerned with her young son's safety. Her dear son was not eating as much as he normally was and he was becoming more and more quiet with each passing day. Having just set the finished dinner next to her son, Shmi began to speak to him.
Shmi:What's wrong, Ani?
Ani:What do you mean, mom?
Ani said as his eyes met her's
Shmi:You haven't been eating a lot lately and you're not as talkative as usual. Did something happen, Ani?
Ani:Owen moved away and I don't know where he is.
Ani said with much sadness.
Shmi:Oh, Ani.
Shmi, without hesitation, embraced her son with all of her gentle might.
Shmi:I'm sorry, my little Ani.
Ani embraced his mother as well.Shmi:These things happen, Ani. But, this is something that we need to move on from. Don't get to attached to everything, ok Ani.
She said with a warm smile on her face.Ani:Ok, mom
Ani said, feeling much better.
After a few moments, the embrace ended and Ani thanked her mother for the comfort.
Shmi:Anytime, my handsome prince Ani.
The dinner between mother and son was swell. Ani, our protagonist, as you can tell, was not living a perfect life. He and his mother are slaves on the desert planet of Tatooine. They belonged to a toydarian junk dealer named Watto who made them work really hard. Although he wasn't the best person in the galaxy, he wasn't abusive or didn't whip them for making mistakes ether. Rather, he was just a fair man who only wanted to run his shop well and even payed his mother for her and Ani's hard work. Ani was also allowed into the outside world of Mos Eisley where he met Owen Lars, the son of moisture farmers. Owen had moved suddenly and poor Ani didn't know where he was, causing his sadness as mentioned. However, with the close relationship he and his mother had, it was easy for his mother to lift up Ani when he was down. He started to smile again as he was eating dinner, making his mother graciously happy. After dinner, Ani was sent right off to bed by his mother.
Shmi:Goodnight, Ani. Sweet dreams.
Shmi kissed Ani's forehead as she exited his room. Ani went to sleep right then and there. As he slept, his mind slipped into his great dreams. Speaking of dreams, Ani often romanticized about being a Jedi, saving the galaxy from many perils. Ani had heard about all of the bravery and courage the Jedi showed as well as their coolness as seen in his eyes. He dreamed endlessly about himself imagined as a heroic Jedi, adventuring the great unknown and fighting all kinds of evil. However, his dreams were suddenly stopped by the sudden sounds of blaster fire. Being the young child he was, he crawled himself into his bed where he hugged his pillow. He was frightened deeply by the screams and commotion that he held his pillow tighter and tighter. He stayed in this position for only a few more moments until his thoughts of fear were changed to concern for his mother. Like a bolt of lightning, Ani sprinted out of his room. Ani sprinted out of the house but before he could, Watto stopped him.
Watto:Ani, what are you doing?
Ani:Mom's in danger!
He shouted as he busted down the doors of his home and ran into the night atmosphere to look for his mother. This is where his eyes and ears looking for his mother were interrupted by the sounds of magic swords disarming blasters from the right of him. Only a few more shots fired before they died down did Ani run to the sight of what was gong on. Ani arrived to find two Jedi standing before knocked out thugs and and a young girl looking very frightened by what she witnessed. Suddenly, the crowd, the Jedi, and the young girl's focus on the scene ended when they saw the boy running to his mother lying on the ground, wounded gravely by one of the men's blaster fire. It turns out that his mother was caught in the crossfire in a blaster fight between notorious crime lord Jabba The Hut's minions and minor street thugs while she was getting supplies for tomorrow's workload at Watto's shop. The commotion was stopped by the Jedi who had been trying to fix their broken space cruiser as they were escorting the young Padme Organa, heir to the Alderaan throne next to her younger brother Bail Organa and the young girl that was previously mentioned, away from space pirates who wanted to take her hostage and use her for ransom. Their ship was broken due to a star fight they engaged in with the criminals and had come to Tatooine to repair their ship. Suddenly, the two Jedi, and the crowd witnessing what transpired, saw Ani rush toward his mother. Everyone moved out of the way as they gave the mother and son some room to speak.
