[ Chapter Fourteen ]

WITH KLAUS AND Rebekah gone, one would think that the compound would be a lot quieter. They would be wrong, very wrong. Elijah had been beside himself with worry for his siblings. He searched almost the entirety of New Orleans for them, while Marcel ordered his vampires around to look for the missing Originals.

Raylynn wanted to help, she really did, but she could not do much. She was human, after all, not to mention the witches hated her. The huntress was concerned about their whereabouts. Rebekah had been nothing but kind to Raylynn since her arrival, but she did not know why she cared about Klaus. Usually, his disappearance would not bother her, but this had changed in the last few months of her life.

For the time being, Raylynn lounged in the courtyard of the compound with a copy of the Clockwork Angel in her hands. She thought that it would be appropriate, considering the story takes place in the 1800s and the Mikaelsons seem to like that time period. She had only gotten a few chapters into the book when Elijah decided to storm into the home.

A furious expression adorned his features as he stomped toward Marcel. "Anything?" The Original questioned.

Marcel moved away from where he stood with his vampires and faced Elijah. "They're putting eyes and ears out everywhere. Daywalkers are working every contact we've got. Cops, dock workers, guys in the Treme –word is out: anyone to earn favor with me gets a lifetime of it if they find them."

"Good. I need a pen and paper." Elijah stated, before he strode off in the direction of the ground level study.

Marcel rolled his eyes, but he followed after the man.

Raylynn curiously watched after them and placed a paper into her book to mark her place. She then set the thick volume down onto the table in front of her and then hopped to her feet to go after the two men. She entered the room behind Marcel, while Elijah took off his suit jacket.

"Hey, am I taking orders from you now, or are we in this together?" Marcel questioned the Original in slight irritation.

"Pen and paper, Marcellus. Now!" Elijah commanded the younger vampire in a frustrated manner.

Marcel sighed heavily. "I want her back just as much as you do, you know –the both of them." He moved out of the room to gather the supplies needed.

Raylynn stepped toward the large desk and leaned against the wooden surface. "So, why do you need a pen and paper?"

Elijah turned in the huntress's direction, while he unbuttoned his shirt "Because of this." He removed the thin fabric from his arms and torso to reveal near a dozen names written across his body in black ink.
