The following Monday, Tony sends me back to school. Maybe this time I'll try to be less shy. I mean, I'm friends with fucking Iron Man. If I have the guts to insult him, I can brave a high school.
I wake up, excited to go back. I've always liked school, to be honest. Sure, it can be boring sometimes, but I can at least see my friends. If I'm at home all day, I'll be really lonely! The best part of school isn't learning how to find the mass of the sun by adding seven to four pi, it's laughing with my friends.
I slip on a high-waisted black skirt, white crop top with the words "Sssshhhh... No One Cares" written on the front. Making sure the skin of my torso is covered, I go to the full body mirror and take in my reflection. It seems fine so I turn but am met with Tony standing and crossing his arms.
"Wow," he drawls out. "And I thought I was conceded. You were too busy checking yourself out that you didn't notice me come in." I just roll my eyes and walk back into the closet. Tony sits on my bed while I get my things. White converse and the ladybug necklace.
When I come out, Tony smirks and crosses his arms.
"Where did you get that?" he asks, obviously referring to the necklace. I smile and clutch the charm in my right hand.
"Peter got it for me," I answer, smiling like a dork. "It was a birthday present, even though my birthday is months from now in this world."
"You really like it?" he asks. I nod and turn to the vanity, grabbing the little makeup that I actually know how to use. Foundation? Check. Powder Stuff? Check. Mascara? Check. Lipgloss? Check. And that's about it.
I finish and turn back to him.
"How's your special project with Jami going?" I ask, brushing my hair into a high ponytail.
"Well," he starts taking a deep breath. "I'm sort of struggling to find the perfect amount of glitter. I could use glitter glue, but I don't think it would look as good. Plus I need some pictures of the two of you. So far, I only have a few from the footage of this weekend." I nod and take one last glance at myself in the mirror.
"Not bad," I comment. "So is it going good or bad?"
"Good, I guess," he answers, standing up. We walk to the dining room, talking about anything that crosses our minds on the way.
We sit at the table, glad to see that it's only the two of us. Jami is either still asleep or getting ready.
I stand corrected. Just then, Jami walks in, as optimistic as ever.
"Hey, guys!" she greets cheerily. I smile and mentally thank her for saving me.
"Jami!" I exclaim. "You're here! Which reminds me, what should we call him?" I motion to Tony, who sits to the right of me. Jami joins us, sitting on my left. A plate of food is set before her almost instantaneously.
"I don't know," she answers, stuffing her face with a pancake. "How about Tony?"
"Nah," I reply. "I never like calling adults by their first name. It makes me uncomfortable."
"Dad?" she suggests.
"Too practical," I critic.
"Pa?"
"No, that's weird."
"Daddy?"
"That sounds sexual." Tony chokes on his food at this comment of mine. Not because he's surprised, but because he was laughing so hard.
"Ripe Tony?"
"What does that even mean?"
"Papa?"
"That doesn't sound right."
"How about Nosey?"
"It fits him, but that just sounds rude."
"Hey!" he butts in. We ignore him though.
"How about just Father?" Jami finally suggests.
"Perfect," I reply, turning to the confused billionaire. "Hey, can we call you Father?"
"Um, sure?" he answers. But it comes out as more of a question.
Since Jami and I are both finished, we stand up and link arms, as per usual. The servant takes our plates and cleans our spots for us.
"Well," I sigh. "We should get going. Goodbye Father!" He waves back as we step into the elevator. I guess I have two dads now, only one of which Jami knows about. Cool.
