This is an AU story.

ANNABETH'S POV

Second time. The second you've let yourself get thrown around like a doll and end up heart-broken. Annabeth Chase isn't a girl who let's herself get thrown around. I promised myself it wouldn't happen again, like I promised myself last time. Luke decided to go and cheat on me again. I can't trust my dating choices anymore. It won't happen again.

I got out of my bed and went downstairs to get some water. I need to prove to Luke that I'm fine. And I need to prove that to myself, too.

A FEW DAYS LATER>>>

ANNABETH'S POV

I have to go back to school today, even if I have to see him. I went in the school doors and almost immediately saw him. I glared at him and walked right past him. He didn't even seem like he cared, or saw my tears.

I ran to the bathroom and wiped away my tears and went to class.

I sat down at a seat near the front of the class.

"Alrighty kids, so we have a new student here today so I'm gonna let him introduce himself." Our teacher backed away and a boy with sea-green eyes and black messy hair stepped to the front of the class.

"Hey, um, I'm Percy Jackson, yeah." He looked down. Gods, that was adorable. I scolded myself mentally for even thinking that. He'll be the same as Luke. A jerk.

PERCY'S POV

One person popped out of the crowd in my eyes. A girl with blond curls, stormy grey eyes, and red cheeks. Perfect. I had to talk to her after class.

I saw her putting her books away at her locker right before school ended. This was my chance.

"Hey, um, I'm Percy. Sorry I just couldn't help seeing you and I was wondering if you would like to go out with me some time to get to know each other?" I blurted before I could even think about what I was saying.

"Um," She started.

ANNABETH'S POV

"Um," I wasn't sure what to say. I didn't want to be mean but I knew what he was doing.

"Sure." I said. We arranged a time and place. Tomorrow after school at the pizza place near the park. Oh gods, here we go.

THE NEXT DAY>>>

PERCY'S POV

The bell just rang and me and Annabeth met up at the front of the school. We walked to the pizza pace and just talked. Turns out we have a lot in common. We laughed a lot. I wanted to ask if she would like to be my girlfriend but something seemed kinda off, like she was afraid to let herself just relax. I decided to ask her anyway though right before we both went home.

"Hey, Annabeth, I was wondering if you would like to be my girlfriend I mean I know it's kinda fast but you seem like a really amazing person." She looked at me.

"Um, I don't know if I should, I can't trust my dating choices anymore." She replied, not making eye contact.

"Yeah, okay I get that." I knew I messed up and I went home scolding myself. I wasn't angry at her but instead I was mad at myself for going too fast.

ANNABETH'S POV

I really like Percy but I can't trust myself anymore. I feel so bad doing that to him but I had no other choice. I called Hazel.

"Hey Hazel, I need some relationship advice,"

We talked the whole night. She said that I should take a chance but it's my choice. I knew what I was going to do.

THE NEXT DAY>>>

ANNABETH'S POV

I saw Percy in the halls and I ran up to him.

"Could you meet me at the park after school?"

"Yeah, sure." He replied.

AFTER SCHOOL>>>

PERCY'S POV

I wasn't sure what Annabeth was going to do but I went to the park anyways. I saw her sitting at a bench, fiddling with her fingers. She looked up and saw me. Her gray eyes sparkled in the sunlight. I walked towards her.

ANNABETH'S POV

I saw him and my stomach twisted and turned. I had to at least take a chance. Percy isn't Luke. He started to walk towards me and sat down next to me.

"Hey," I started. "So I asked if you could meet me here because about the other day, I'm sorry that I said that, it's just, I was scared. I've made some bad relationship choices in the past and I was afraid that if I let you in I'd end up broken. But I'm gonna take a chance. So, if your still up for it, I'll gladly be your girlfriend." I was afraid to look at his eyes in case they didn't show what I wanted them to. But I looked anyways. He smiled.

"Of course I'm still up for it."
