The next day, I make a mini everyone, and set them up on my desk. I've taught them to talk normally, and they do what people say.
Even the Snape.
I told him to do a backflip and he failed, but these people can't die or get injured, so he just gets up and tries again. I stop him before he falls off my desk. Soon, the adults can apparate and I have to put a charm on the room to stop them going missing.
Soon, the real Severus comes in, and sits down in my bed watching. I show him how he looks when he does a backflip, and he smiles weakly.
"Oh, you read the end, didn't you?" I say sympathetically.
"Yes." He says glumly.
I sit down next to him and rub his back.
"You'll be fine. I know how you feel. See what I meant when I said there was no way to prevent it?"
"Yes, but I want to stop it."
"That could trigger a massive change, and we can't get in there to fake it. It's hopeless. I'm not even allowed to help anyone else. You're not allowed to help either."
"Sadly."
"By the way, now there's going to be a death each year."
"This is depressing."
"It's life."
"No, it's death."
I smile softly. "Death is but life's next great adventure."
"Is that a Dumbledore quote?"
"Yeah."
"Is next year's death one that doesn't make you want to save the dead person?"
"That's Sirius. So, we're going to save his life. Harry's reaction is actually what made me cry. When Sirius died, it didn't hit me as hard as it hit Harry. It's going to take a lot of self-control not to yell in his ear that we just faked it."
"Don't you worry that everything will go wrong?"
"Well, of course. In the first few days of being in this time, I was worried that you would push me away, tell me that you didn't want my help. I was afraid that you wanted to die."
"I did, at first. Is scares me now, how open I was to death. Then I sat down and had a hard think. I do want to live now. Especially if it means something to someone."
"Thanks."
"You're welcome. When do I get the next book?"
I face palm. "Later. So anyway, now do you see how important my job is? I have to save you, without letting Harry know you're alive, and I have to resist the temptation to risk my life for everyone I see. You'd better do the same, I don't want to be orphaned a third time."
"I'll try."
He helps me create a massive house in the style of Hogwarts, and he does this complicated permanent levitation charm. He informs me it's the one used on the candles at school. He then leaves me to arrange tiny furniture and settle my people in.
Soon, I have a community of miniature people walking around and mingling with each other. Every James is trained to hate every Snape they see. It's pretty funny. Then they start fighting and a Lily comes in to stop them. Harry hugs his parents when he sees them, and Fred and George mess up the place. That's when mini Filch comes in to tidy everything up, and the twins run away.
I have a room for everyone, and the couples share a room. The people that aren't part of the collection, and are waiting for Christmas, have their own bedroom.
