Nikki's POV
'I have a feeling that Candy is gonna try something' I said, looking at Josh. After school, we'd crashed at my place, since we needed to talk in private. My mom didn't mind, thought she did tell me two words that made me flinch.
'Use condoms' was all she said. Remind me please why I even talk to her ?
I had my head on his lap, while he played with my curls. 'Hey, don't worry, it'll be fine.' he said, smiling.
'It's just - Ugh, I don't know' I replied, running my fingers through my hair, which was messed up thanks to Josh.
'What's that on your face ?' he asked.
'What ?' I shot back.
'This' he replied, frowning. 'It doesn't look good on you. When you smile, you look so much prettier.' he winked.
I laughed, shaking my head, and grinned at him.
'Thy lovely smile shalt be the end of my life' he replied dramatically, feigning an arrow striking his heart. Wow, this guy sure knew Shakespeare.

Candy's POV
This was not done. I was not gonna let a slutty, sneering bitch steal my boyfriend from right under my nose. I had to do something, and fast.
I sighed, looking at my pink custom made HTC phone. Usually, I preferred not to call up Phoenix, but right now, I didn't have a choice.
I called, and Phoenix picked up on the third ring.
'It's me Candy, I need some help' I said. Nikki wasn't gonna know what hit her.

Nikki's POV
Life just couldn't get worse. Fuck my life ? Pfft, that was an understatement. Today couldn't have been worse, I'd been in my room for the past four hours, crying my eyes out.
I rewinded to where it had all gone wrong.
It had been a totally normal morning. Alex and me were headed to class, when we bumped into Josh. Atleast, I bumped into Josh. I smiled, happy to see him. He gave me a goofy grin back and it quickly turned into a grimace.
I turned around, guessing that the grimace was aimed at the person standing right behind me. It was none other than Candy.
'Hello Josh' she purred.
'Get out of my sight, Candy' he replied, with a look of disgust on his face.
'But, I know something that you don't' she continued.
'And it's something that I don't wanna know either' he said.
'What would you do, if I said it's about someone you love ?' she asked, with a hint of amusement in her eyes.
She'd struck a nerve. I saw Josh's jaw tighten and the nerves on his hands begin to show, a sign that he was clenching his fists.
'Oh well, if you change your mind, here' she said, handing him a chit of paper. She then walked away, with her posse in step behind her. And all I coud do was shake my head, trying to ignore the urge to slap her.

Josh's POV
I thought back, to what had happened. I knew it. All girls are the same sluts that we think they are. After Candy had walked away, I couldn't help but feel curious about what she had said. I knew that I should've trusted Nikki, but my curiosity made me call up the girl I hated more than any other.
What I heard, changed everything. I had listened to what she had said, and hung on to every word, as I felt a stinging sensation in my eyes.
I shook my head, refusing to believe it. Candy sensed it, and in a matter of minutes, I heard a familiar 'ping' coming from the direction of my iPhone. I trudged over, assuming it was one of my friends. I was so damn wrong.
The message was a screenshot of a conversation between Alex and Nikki, in which Nikki said that she still loved Kyle. What's worse, was that the conversation had taken place just last night.

Nikki's POV
I feel confused. Like I'm stuck in a dark tunnel, and I can see a spot of light up ahead, but no matter what I do, I can't reach it.
Did I really love Josh ? Sure, he made me feel like I was on top of the world. But there just weren't the fireworks which I'd had with Kyle. I didn't feel the butterflies, I didn't feel myself blush when I saw him, nothing like it.
But I don't wanna lose him either. It was a hopeless struggle. I hadn't realized that I was edging towards the balcony in my room. On most days, I tried to avoid it, since the space in the balcony was narrow and anyone could fall from there.
It was a four storey drop, and my fear of heights didn't help much. I took a deep breath, and opened the balcony door, stepping out into the narrow space, and felt the cold wind hit me. I was wearing just a t-shirt and shorts, along side my fuzzy bunny slippers.
I closed my eyes, listening to the sounds of the crickets, aware of how close I was to death. I climbed out, and closed the door behind me. Was this the end ? Was this where I simply gave in ?
