Pain, drowsiness and nausea surged through my body. I was now conscious but I kept my eyes closed. I didn't dare to move as it would make my body ache, known from past experiances. Eventually my senses kicked in and I felt an arm hang over the side of my waist.
Please tell me I woke up with someone I'm supposed to wake up with instead of being stupidly drunk and waking up with someone I didn't know the name of.
I sighed with relief to see Dan still asleep peacefully beside me. When he wakes up he will experience the living hell of the morning-after. I turned my body around and stared at the many beautiful features he had on his face, the faint freckles spread across the bridge of his nose, the small amount of ginger stubble that lined his jaw and his bed-head hair. His arm was outstretched with my head resting against it while the other was draped around my waist. His nose almost touching mine, I felt his light breath against my face and it made me feel relaxed. I suddenly got a song stuck in my head after hearing a car driving past with it on full volume, I started to subconsciously hum it quietly with my eyes closed, I was still pretty tired. I interrupted myself when I yawned almost falling asleep again. I then heard the same song being hummed back to me, I opened my eyes and I saw him staring back at me with a smile spread across his face. I hid my face and chuckled to myself in embarrassment.
"Sorry did I wake you?"
"Yes, but it's the best thing to wake up to. You should be my alarm every morning." He suggested. I laughed softly and snuggled into him.
"How are you feeling?" I mumbled from underneath his chest.
"Not bad actually, what about you?"
"Just wait until you get out of bed. I feel like shit. What time is it?" I moaned.
"Just after 10. We should probably get up, we need to clean the place which God-knows-how-long that's going to take, then start packing for Australia." He replied.
"Nooooooo." I moaned getting louder by the second making Dan laugh.
"It's got to be done eventually."
"Well eventually can be tomorrow." I grumbled. He picked himself up out of bed leaving me in a sloppy position after half dragging me out. My foot was hanging over the edge of the bed when I felt a rather large hand wrap round my entire ankle. He pulled me towards him, I held on for dear life grabbing onto anything even if it was going down with me.
"Daaaaaan. Please just for once leave me be, can't you see I'm so hungover right now I think I'm going to die. Yep...definitely going to die." At that point I let my body go loose and I flopped off the bed landing on the decorative cushions that had been shoved off the bed. Dan let go of my ankle and it fell to the ground with a thump. I lay there sprawled out all over the floor pretending to be dead. I heard a tut coming from him.
"Like a child you are." He tutted.
I half opened one eye to see him standing over me with his hands on his hips and shaking his head. I couldn't hold back the smile that spread across my face which soon led to a weird unsteadily-breathed giggle.
"I'll help when I feel like it." I mumbled.
"No you'll do it now." He demanded picking me up over his shoulder, I squealed still leaving my body loose, I was too tired to fight back. He gently placed me down and for the first time since last night I saw the place. It was barely recognisable with the amount of litter that lay all over the floor, cake all over the curtains and the walls and even the ceilings, tables and chairs overturned which also had cake over them and spilled beer stained the carpets. I just wanted to go back to bed and hope that when I wake back up it would all be clean. Why I let this happen I don't know, now I know how it feels to be a parent after their child has just had a house party. I studied the room estimating how long it would take the get the stains out of the floor, or for the tables to be wiped clean, it all added up to a full days work.
