卌 Wednesday, September 25卌

I woke up curled up in a ball on a small chair.  I shot up in it trying to remember where I was and why I was here.  My body was twisted in knots and I could already feel the aching in my bones from being stuck in a position all night that one should definitely not stay in for more than 5 min.  Then I saw Luke and memories of last night flooded my mind.  The men in suits, the threat, the kiss, the crash, the hospital, and ...the other kiss.  It was all crazy and I didn't know what to think of it.

Luke looked like he hadn't moved from last night and I wonder if he had woken up yet.  I felt like I needed to find that doctor again to ask how he was doing.  I never even got his name though so I got up and stretched and made my way out to find him.  I walked over to the nurse behind the counter.

"Good morning.  I was wondering if the doctor that was assigned to Luke Hemmings in room 211 was around."

"Beth!  Bethany!"  I heard the yelling of my name in a voice that was all too familiar to me.  I turned around to see my dad and little brother.  He was being held back by a male nurse who would not let them  pass into the emergency center.  I sighed deeply walking over and prepared myself for the conversation I was about to have.

He looked angry.  "Young lady, where have you been all night??"

I went over and hugged Stefan ignoring my father and trying to stay as calm as possible.  "I texted you."

"It is one thing to send a very undetailed text and expect me to be okay with that but then you never  came home!"  His hands were moving everywhere very fast and I now knew where I got this habit from.  Stefan looked back and forth between us.  I felt terrible he was constantly in the middle of this now.

"My.. friend, Luke, is unconscious right now so I think you should cut me a little slack."  I crossed my arms over my chest and rolled my eyes.  I was too exhausted to fight with him.

My dad paused.  "Luke? Luke who?"

"Luke Hemmings.  His car flipped over.  Why?"  I questioned why he even cared.

"No reason... Will he be okay?"  He pushed further.

"I'm not sure I was just about to find out when you screamed my name waking all the patients."

He switched the subject quickly.  "Were you planning on just ditching school today?"

I shrugged.  I obviously wasn't going to go but I didn't want my dad to know that.

"Well I need to take Stefan to school so I will see you tonight."  He paused and put his hand on my shoulder.  "I'm glad you're okay."

I nodded and watched as he walked away.  That was his thought on good parenting and being attentive to his child.  Ever since my mom died, this is how he was.  He was not good at showing how he felt.  He did the best he could but it was never the same as my mother.

I went back to the desk.

"I'm sorry ma'am.  I am not sure where he is at the moment but I will let him know where you are when he checks in."

"Thanks for the help."  I tried my best to keep my sarcasm to a minimum in the tone but it escaped me.

I walked back to Luke's room to see Calum sitting on the chair where I had once slept.  My bones started to ache again thinking about it.  I smiled upon seeing him but then I remembered what happened last night.

"Yes.  That's right.  You left me last night."

"I'm so sorry Cal.  I found Luke and then I fell asleep and it was a really long night and.."
