Dr. Jane Harrison had me bent over and was examining my bum. She had a rubberized glove which she used to probe me. "Any pain?"

"No." I said. "Just a little uncomfortable."

"You said that you felt little pain when you were sodomized by Luke?" Dr. Harrison knew about Luke and I. She kept the whole thing confidential as a Doctor. Nor did she judge us.

"No, when we first had sex, it hurt going in. If it's continuous and we don't use enough lubrication I can get a little irritated."

"There has been some scarring from the continual penetration. I'm surprised you didn't feel more pain or irritation." Dr. Harrison told me. "You said that you felt pleasure and even had an orgasmic experience due to penetration."

I stood up as Dr. Harrison withdrew her finger from my bum. "Yes, I never had anything so pleasurable, not even a normal release."

Dr. Harrison cupped my testicles. "These are small and hard, I'm surprised you experience release at all."

"I'm jealous sometimes of Luke's penis. Envious that he is the one who always plays the male role in our relationship. I worry too that maybe there will be long term effects I don't know about." I mentioned as I got dressed.

"Well, I don't think that there will be any permanent damage to you, if you continue, but this is rather new territory for me. It is possible that your prostate is being massaged by Luke's penis. Which might explain your pleasure and orgasmic experiences. If you enjoy the experience than there is no harm in it, but if you feel any real pain you are to call on me immediately."

Sometimes talking about sex with Luke is embarrassing. Dr. Harrison had a cool nature when she asked me about it. Not judging, more analyzing, as though she was talking about any other health issue I might have. All the same, that lack of warmth was disconcerting at times.

I usually have check-ups with Dr. Harrison four times a year. She is perhaps the only person who knew about my change at puberty besides Mother, Carol, and Luke. Having completed my examination I asked Henry to drive me to Rae's new theater.

Rae North was debuting new play at the Manhattan Warehouse Theater. Naturally it was about sex and more sex. Censors drove her out of her old theater. Now she was casting her plays in a converted warehouse that she owned. Swishy hadn't survived long, but she swore to recast it and try again in her own theater.

Most of Rae's audience were college students. Rude rascals who hooted and jeered then turned up the next day to watch the play again. Rae didn't care for them, she felt they chased away the more intellectual crowd.

"College boys are youthful and enthusiastic." Rae told me. "That is a good trait in bed, but they haven't any smarts at all. I'll take a professor over a plebe any day. Those old hats are a pretty randy bunch, with a lot more experience."

"I thought you were talking about the college bunch chasing away your usual audience." We were setting in Rae's dressing room. She refused to call it the theater management office. Which was part of what she used it for. It was part office, part social parlor, part bedroom and dressing room. There was even a little kitchen with a small stove and old fashioned icebox. I sat in an old, but well kept armchair. while Rae sat in the one opposite in the parlor section of the huge room.

"I am. Those boys think that youth is an excuse to be rude and crude." Rae said. "So they apply their ideas with enthusiasm in my theater, scaring away my usual audience. As I said, if they applied the youth and enthusiasm in bed, they would have happier girlfriends. Those girls they bring are defiant, sullen brats who think they are owed something."

"I agree they act like a bunch of barbarians. I had to throw a number of them out of my Halloween Party. Not to mention some quiff that Antonio had brought with him." I said.

"I heard about that little incident, that was unwise, darling." Rae said. "Antonio Mercelli is part of a larger organization that keeps tabs on Luke's activities. They take a cut of his profits. It is small and insignificant compared to what he makes as a whole, but he pays his dues."

"Mafia?" I asked.

"More or less, not necessarily Italian, more Irish." Rae said. "Luke is an independent, but he still has to pay the organization to operate in their territory and for protection against other organizations who may want to muscle in on his operation."

"Both Antonio and Marco are Italian." I said. "If it's an Irish operation why are they part of it. You would think they'd all be Irish."

"Actually they are both Sicilian. They are hired thugs. Working for whoever pays the most. It makes them unpopular among other Sicilian operations like the Mafia. Their fellow Sicilians feel that they are betraying the Mafia." Rae said.

I was learning more about Luke's business from Rae than I had from Luke in the last month and a half that I'd been living with the man. An Irish Mafia sounded incredible. What I didn't understand was Luke Mason's family had been in America since the Revolutionary War. I was sure he was British.

"I thought the Irish didn't like the British." I said to Rae, explaining Luke's heritage.

"Well, darling. He's not really British at all, he's a viral American male, as you well know." Rae said winking at me. "The Irish have no problems with solid American men like Luke."

After talking with Rae I went out to see her play. The warehouse theater had a stage in a huge room. Rae had obtained two dozen church pews and put them in front of the stage. To one side of the stage was a jazz band with a heavy brass section. I was situated in a comfy armchair not far from the band itself.

I knew I liked the play about half-way through. It was about a European harlot who married an American soldier in Paris. Several of her clients don't realize that she's not a working girl any more and decide to visit her at the same time. Her husband keeps popping in and out as the clients arrive. She hides each client in different places in the house, she keeps sending her husband out on errands, but he doesn't take notes on what to get and returns to ask what it is he was supposed to get again.

Luke certainly needed to see this one. He would think it was funny.

As I was thinking about how I could drag Luke to the theater I began to smell smoke. The noisy crowd of college students were too busy with their cigars and cigarettes to notice the smell. I also saw the smoke behind them. As I stood up to warn them that one of the young men saw it.

"Fire!!" Brought the whole rambunctious crowd storming down the aisle between the pews. Girls and boys clawing at each other to get out. If anyone thought there was any chivalry left from the last decade this scene would disprove that thought. As I stared at the spectacle of poor behavior I saw one girl no more than sixteen stumbling across the pews.

"Come with us, Miss." A Negro from the band said. Grabbing my arm.

I pulled away and ran into the smoke to get the girl. I found her coughing at the end of a pew, I pulled her towards the side exit. Putting her arm around my shoulder I supported her through the smoke. I could see light from the side stage door. So did the little tramp I was trying to help. She shoved me away and ran to the door. Falling and stumbling. I fell and hit my head on the end of the pew. The last thing I could remember was that it seemed easier to breath as I lay on the warehouse floor.

Smelling salts woke me up in the alley outside of the theater. The same Negro who had tried to lead me to the side exit had returned for me after he got his band members out. The young girl who pushed me into the pew was long gone.

My lungs felt like they were on fire, I had a splitting headache. My mouth was dry as dust. I began to cough uncontrollably, then I vomited for a while. This made me feel even worse. As I argued with the ambulance driver about going to the hospital Rae chased him away.

"Henry will drive you home. I've contacted Doctor Jane Harrison." Dr. Harrison could examine me, while at the hospital there was a chance that my condition could be discovered.
