Rey's P.O.V.
"The force?"
"Yes. I thought maybe you could help them." Rose says with desperation, hoping that I'll do something.
I look at Ben. He knows my decision. I look back at Rose. "Okay, we'll help."
"Thank you, Rey."
"First, we must give them a room where they can stay." I say looking around to see is any rooms are available. A woman fighter comes out from the circle of fighters surrounding us. "There's a couple of rooms in the back."
"Great. They can stay there."
We lead the children to their rooms and help them get situated. Since there was only a couple rooms, they had to share. Whole they're settling in, I decide to talk to Ben alone. We go into my room and I close the door behind me. I turn around and Ben is sitting on my bed.
"What are we gonna do?" I ask myself. "I can't train them, I don't even know all the possibilities that the force holds."
He gets up from the bed and puts his hands around me. "It's gonna be okay. You're not alone. We're in this together."
I immediately calm down in Ben's arms. "First off, you can train them. You literally learned as much as me in just a couple of weeks than what I learned in years. And secondly, I'll be here."
"I know."
"I'm going to go talk to Poe and see if he can give us a space where we can train them."
He nods. I leave his arms and I feel cold but I go find Poe.
I find Poe at the control room. I walk up to him as he is talking to Audrey. They seem comfortable, especially for how long they've known each other.
"Hey, Poe can I talk to you?"
"Uh, sure." He turns to Audrey.
"I'll be right back."
She nods and walks away.
"What is it?" He asks.
"The children. Rose thinks Ben and I should train them, but we need a place to do that. Is there anywhere in the base where we could?"
"The outside property of the base is huge. We could set something up there."
"Thank you, Poe. I can guarantee that they will love it."
He nods. "Rey?"
"Yes?"
"Do you think Audrey likes me?"
"Do you like her?"
"Maybe."
"Then just ask."
He looks at me with a look of determination and nods.
"Just take it slow big guy." I say with a smile.
"I will."
He walks away towards Audrey. I'm curious of how it's gonna go but I decide to go check in the children to see if they've settled in yet. It's getting pretty late. I walk to the rooms and I go into the girls' rooms first.
They're all asleep. I hope someone tucked them in. Maybe Rose did. I shut the door quietly and go across the hall to the boys' room. When I open the door I see a surprising sight. Ben is sitting in one of the boys' bed telling them a story. Their faces were filled with joy and excitement and so was Ben's. He is so focused on telling the story that he doesn't notice me for a couple of seconds. By the end of the story, the boys are asleep. He gets up quietly and walks over to me. "That was adorable." I say.
"What?"
"You have a soft spot for kids."
"No."
"Don't deny it."
"Okay. Maybe."
I laugh and we leave the room. We go back to my bunker. Ben sits on my bed. "So what did Poe say?"
"He said there's space outside."
"Great, but what about lightsabers?"
"On Pillio, Finn and I found a cave full of Kyber crystals. We managed to grab a few before you blew up the base. I also have the original Jedi text, so that'll help."
"Okay, good. But we should get some sleep. We got a big day tomorrow."
I nod and get ready. After I do, I climb into bed with him. I lay my head on his chest as the rest of my body lays next to him. "I was thinking..." he starts to say, "maybe... one day... we can have children of our own?" I look at him surprised by the question he just asked. "I would want nothing more." I say smiling and he smiles back and I lay my head back on his chest and fall asleep in no time.
The next morning I wake up to Ben like I always do. He's still asleep. I kiss him and his eyes flutter open. He looks at me and he smiles. "Good morning." I say.
"Good morning." He says.
"Ready for a big day?"
"Ready as I'll ever be."
"Great. Then we should probably get dressed."
He nods and we both get out of bed and get out of our sleep wear. We head to the boys' and girls' room. They agree to meet us outside in an hour. Training will begin. But for what exactly? We can't go back to the Jedi Order. That really didn't work out.
An hour later, Ben and I are standing outside in a grassy field, not too far away from the base. I have a bag hanging from my shoulder with the Kyber crystals. The kids see us and all come running towards us. We sit down in a circle on the ground. "What's in the bag?" One child asks me.
I pull a crystal out of the bag, displaying it in the palm of my hand. "This is a Kyber Crystal. These are objects that carry the force. They are what power our lightsabers." The kids are in awe of the crystals. I flip the bag upside down and the crystals fall out and hit the ground. Ben speaks, "Each of you will get one. Now you do not choose the crystal, the crystal chooses you. So which one calls to you?"
The kids look at the pile of crystals. Teal, one of the young boys, reaches his hand for a crystal. He grabs a light blue one. The crystal starts to glow and now we know that the crystal is his. Everyone else does the same. Two blues, two greens and one yellow-green.
"Looks like everybody has their crystals. Now we build our handles." I say.
A couple hours later they all have their lightsabers built and ready to ignite. We got the materials from the base that nobody will use.
It's almost sunset and we're all standing outside where we were this morning. "Are you guys ready?" I ask.
They all nod in unison. "Okay. Ignite."
They ignite their lightsabers and we all cheer. The lightsabers' light glows against their faces. "Okay guys. I think that's enough for today. I think it's time for bed. Goodnight."
"Goodnight, Master Rey and Master Ben." They say at the same time. Then they run off into the base to go to their rooms.
"It feels weird." Ben says. I turn around and look at him standing behind me. "What does?"
"Being called a Master."
"Well, get used to it." I say as I grab his hand and we start walking towards the base.
"So what is this?" Ben asks randomly.
"What?"
"Training these kids. What will become of it?"
"I know we can't go the same way as the Jedi Order." I pause. "I guess it's time for a New Order." I look at Ben who is gently smiling. I smile and his hand moves to my back as we continue to walk to the base.
