Hermione sat with Harry and Ron and sighed. They were really annoying her. They were so in love. Not that she wasn't happy for them -- she was! But it felt like they were shoving it in her face.
"Alright, Hermione?" Harry asked, before laughing when Ron tickled him.
She waved him off. "Yes, Harry."
She wasn't.
"You know what you need, Hermione?" Ron asked.
She shrugged. "What do I need Ronald?"
"A boyfriend.
"Or girlfriend," Hermione corrected.
Ignoring the faces of her friends, she stared across the hall at the redhead that was taking over her brain.
Ginny Weasley.
Oh, she was so beautiful.
It was so unfair.
Ron cracked a joke, but she wasn't paying attention. Her eyes were too focused on Ginny's face. Her lips were moving, talking to Luna, and Hermione imagined what they would feel like against her own, her cheek, her forehead...
"Hermione, are you checking out Luna Lovegood?" Ron asked.
She could hear Harry shush him. "Eat, Ron. Merlin knows you like it."
"Oh shut up, Harry."
Those hands, soft but calloused. Always with chipping nail polish, smelling like lemons and sugar.
She sighed again, and forced herself to spoon soup into her mouth, watching Ginny flip her hair over her shoulder.
Oh that hair.
It was like Ron's but even more vibrant. From the nights spent in Ginny's room, Hermione knew it smelled like flowers, and it was softer than her own frizzy hair. It moved effortlessly, and was easy to plait.
Oh how wonderful it would feel to run her fingers through it!
"Wait, are you checking out my sister?" Ron exclaimed.
Harry shushed him again. "Shh!"
Hermione groaned. 'I should be into some guy, but it's just a waste of time.' She thought.
"You know, you girls would be really cute together," Harry told her, ignoring Ron's cries. "We'd all be one big family, if you got married."
Ron sighed. "Mum'd be positively pleased."
Hermione smiled despite her racing thoughts.
"Hey Hermione, Harry, Ron." Ginny waved, sitting next to Hermione. "What's up?"
Hermione's head slammed into her soup bowl and Ginny jumped. "What's with her?"
Ron giggled. "She has a crush."
Harry covered his boyfriend's mouth with a book. "How are you Gin?"
Ginny grinned. "Really good, actually. Luna's taking me to see Thestrals later. Any dates, Hermione?"
Ginny stared when Hermione lifted her head and wiped her soupy forehead. "Library," she muttered, before running off.
"I don't get it. What's wrong?"
Harry shook his head. "She's so oblivious," he whispered to Ron, who shrugged. "I was too."
"You are oblivious. Maybe it's a Weasley thing."
