𝟷 𝟷 : 𝟹 𝟶 𝙿 𝙼 | 𝙼 𝙾 𝙽 𝙳 𝙰 𝚈NIGHT WILL ALWAYS BE as restless as I am, since I can't sleep. Well, I guess that's what happens when you know you're living with the undead. My eyes open effortlessly again, now stared out the window to see the starless, pitch black sky outside, I've almost drowned into it.
I still can't believe how I am still alive. Every night I've always thought of why me? Why was I even spared to be one of those who's living, but suffering at the same time?
But no, I'm still grateful I am alive, and that there are others like me, and we're all fighting for our lives having each other's backs for almost eleven years. Even so, I still couldn't believe how I've found myself alive that time. I clearly don't remember moving into here. The memory of how I got here was all vague.
I don't even remember who saved me from the fire, and from the creatures who took my loved ones, my old life. But the memory of my past life is still as clear as I can remember, especially the day the apocalypse happened.
I don't realize I then fall asleep.
"You have no idea what you've gotten yourself into," noona tells me. But I know she's just concerned of the people around me, for they know what happened. "Tae, everyone thinks you really are the one who—"
"Who what?" I snap. "Does that change anything? Listen, I'm the one who saw what happened. I don't care if they accused me of killing him. It doesn't matter to me, as long as you trust that I didn't kill him. I saw it, noona. With my own two eyes."
Noona shakes her head, "You're twelve. No one else will believe you, Taehyung. The police confirmed no one else was there but you and—"
"Stop it," I feel betrayed. Even my own sister doesn't want to believe me. "If you don't believe me, fine. I'm not forcing you." I stomp away from her, my eyes dwelled in tears. Not aware of my surroundings, I storm out of the living room, headed towards my bike.
"Taehyung!" Noona calls out to me, her voice pleading me not to leave. I didn't listen; I ride away with my bike, heading to who knows where. I try to dry up my tears by rubbing my eyes as I ride. I keep on riding, passing by endless houses and buildings.
The sky is dark, yet so lively. Only then I realized it was actually a few minutes before New Year's Day.
I stop, hopping of my bike, looking up at the restless streets of Daegu. In a place where everyone was having so much fun, so excited for New Year's Day, but one who feels empty and nothing, someone who's been accused of killing his father.
I sit down on the cold, snowy ground. The frost crawls onto me as I shiver, tears streaming relentlessly down my face.
From a distance, the countdown starts.
