Alyja's pov

While Athena and Luka argue in front of me about where I should stay. I stay in thought thinking about the conversation I had back in Demise's territory.

Flashback starts now

"Hello is anyone here?," I say out loud as I wonder into this unknown dark and foggy place I've never been to before.

It all happened so fast, one minute I was standing in front of my mate in his lycan form as my life flashed before my eyes then the next I woke up in the middle of some field. Feels like I've been walking for hours.

Town after town is filled with silence. As I walked through, I caught a few wolfs and she-wolves warily watching me through their windows. As soon as I tried to communicate with them, they immediately would close the curtains as if they were afraid of talking to me or something.

No matter how many times I knocked on their doors that were clearly filled with wolfs or she-wolves, I was ignored. I have no clue why they're acting like this. Every town, I passed it was the same treatment which made me ball out in tears feeling so alone, confused, and overall scared of where I am since no one would talk to me.

Suddenly, a smooth voice speaks to me calming my freaked out state as she grabs my hand leading me to her home. At first I was taken back by her appearance due to this never being a thing you see everyday, but something about her made me feel safe.

"Everything is going to be okay," she says as her gold lips stretch into a small smile. "Where am I? I'm dead ain't I?," I ask all in one breathe. After wondering around for a while, all I want is answers. I need to know what's going on.

Her intense ocean blue eyes are so vibrant due to her entire self including her long high raised ponytail being charcoal just like her skin tone. If it wasn't for the gold within the cracks on her skin and features, I truly believe she would fade into this dark place.

"Yes, but not for long," she responds catching me by surprise.

"What? What do you mean by that?

"You have a very persuasive mate Alyja"

"You know my name? Wait, my mate? What is he doing?," my eyes almost bulge out of their sockets as worry sets in along with curiosity.

"I know every soul that comes into my territory. Pardon me, for not introducing myself firstly. I'm Demise," she softly says handing out her hand for me to shake which I do. However, I couldn't help, but retrieve my hand back feeling the intensity of coldness from her touch.

"I'm so sorry it-"

"Don't worry about it. You ain't the first nor the last to react that way. After all death isn't warming right?," she softly chuckles as we reach her place.

"Right," I half smile feeling horrible for the way I acted. I really hope I didn't offend her in any way. My thoughts break away as we finally reach a home ahead of us away from all the towns up in the hill.

Her home is beautiful, trees surround her entire acre as black glittery flowers leads the way to the entrance of her home. Colors of charcoal, grey, and light grey decorate her home. The door, however, is matte black with a glittery doorknob. I must admit for this place to consist of these colors, it looks very nice.

Once Demise opens the door, we both step inside. "Take a seat we must have a talk," she says pointing towards a black wooden chair as she grabs a small pan pouring water into it setting it on the stove.
