After alpha Lysias left, Luka and I decided to take a walk into the woods. As we walk, silence is between us. The only sound being heard is birds chirping in the sky. So many questions flow through my mind. However, none of them slip out of my mouth. "Alyja," Luka breathes under his breathe immediately catching my attention. "Yeah?," I respond looking at him.
"How sure are you that you want to be with me?," he asks his crystal blue eyes locking with mine. I can tell within his eyes how drained he is which has me a bit worried.
"Luka, you're my mate. I want to be with you for the rest of my life"
Luka takes in a deep breathe before responding, "Are you ready to be marked by me?" I gasp, unsure about the emotions I'm currently feeling. A mixture of surprise, happiness, and worry swirl within me. I'm aware of the risk of being marked by a cursed wolf. I know I've said before that I was willing to reverse his curse even if it meant risking my own life, but I just didn't think it'd be so soon.
I guess I expected things to be in a better state than what we are in right now due to it being such a sacred, yet risky decision. However, one question consumes my mind. "Why now? You were so against it before?"
"Because the same way I need it, so do you," he responds coming to a halt leaning against a near by tree. I stand in front of him not really liking how his response sounds. It sounds like such business instead of love. I always thought my marking would be out of pure love. However, just like everything else it's the complete opposite of everything I dreamed of.
"What do you mean by that?"
"Octavia mentioned to me that by marking you. You will be stronger in all aspects which will help you take control over your inner goddess," Luka explains.
"Wow, I didn't know that. So that means it would also help me fight against the fever too?"
Luka stays silent lingering on the question. That's when I realized I messed up on asking such a question. I completely let Luka know how scared I am deep inside.
Idiot.
"I'm not scared Luka. I was just asking," I place my hand on his cheek and bottom jawline. The sparks between our touch erupt causing the both of us to let out a deep breathe. If I was feeling a bit scared earlier. I am no longer that afraid. Instead, I feel brave and strong. The power of the mate bond.
"I'm sorry for offering this to you. I wish things were different. I know you always dreamed of a fairytale, but instead it's such a nightmare. You don't deserve any of this," Luka huffs leaning his face into my hand.
I go ahead and place my other hand onto the other side of his face. I fall deeply in love all over again as I scan his every beautiful feature as I hold his precious face between my hands. One thing is for sure my mate is absolutely gorgeous. I never thought I would have such a greek god as a mate, but I do. I'm one lucky she-wolf.
"Never say that again. I'm blessed to have you as my mate. You've been through so much so young Luka. I'm so sorry for all of the pain you had to endure on your own"
"She told you didn't she?," Luka sadly utters.
"Yeah. I'm so sorry about your father. Your mother will pay for everything she's done to you. I will make sure of it," I genuinely say meaning every single word. After learning about Luka's background. I finally understand his character and why he acted so cold in the beginning with me. Poor thing, he's suffered so much.
"I will end all of this for you. I want to be with you. I want to be happy. You're my happiness Alyja. Before you I was miserable until Moon showed me my cure through a vision. As soon as I saw your beautiful angelic face, my heart became warm from pure coldness. Pure peace falling over me. You gave me hope," Luka murmurs his eyes pierced onto mine.
The moment I've craved from him has finally arrived. Hearing his sweet words, my heart thumps warmly. To think before that he rejected me because he didn't like me was an unknowledgeable way of thinking by my part. If only I knew then what I know now.
"You're my everything Luka. You and I will get through this together and live our fairytale. I promise," I respond leaning in to place a kiss on his lips. As soon as our lips touch, Luka wraps his arms around my waist pulling me in closer our lips in sync with one another. As we kiss, sparks are felt all over my body wanting more of my mate.
"Thanks," I breathe in between kisses. "For?" Luka pulls away his crystal blue eyes piercing through mine with such admiration.
"Saving me last night"
"If any soul messes with you. They mess with me," Luka smiles.
"Did you ki-"
"Azure, but my mother and that she-wolf witch managed to get away," Luka grunts.
"I'm sorry for Azure. Regardless of everything, he was still your half br-"
"He's no brother of mine. I'm glad, he's no longer existent in this world," Luka cuts me off clenching his jaw at the mention of Azure. I didn't say a word only remaining silent. Regardless, of the evil Azure did. It's still sad to know he's no longer with us. Violence and death was never something I particularly liked.
"Luka," I murmur steering the subject onto what's important right now for my mate and I.
"Wassup?"
"I'm ready. I want you to mark me," I firmly say watching Luka's face expression closely. At first, he seems stunned then fearful as he thinks about it. However, the expression quickly fades into a hopeful one. I know he worries about the fever that comes right after the marking. However, I fully accept this risk. Anything to save my mate. If it were me, I truthfully believe he would do the same without hesitation. Moon created us for one another.
It's all for a purpose.
