"Borussia Dortmund?" Gerard breathed out heavily.
"Yeah... I think it'll be a better fit. I need more playing time Ger. I didn't work as hard as I have to sit the bench." Marc's hand rubbed the back of his neck as he avoided Pique's sad eyes.
"What if we... we could talk to Enrique. Maybe get you more time on the field. We could..." Pique was at a lose.
"Gerard. This is for the best." Marc left Gerard with a sad smile.
Pique clenched his fist and slammed it into the wall, leaving a small dent. How could Marc leave him? He hasn't gotten the chance to profess his feelings yet. Marc was supposed to stay here with Gerard.
"No. No. Everything's going to shit. This wasn't supposed to happen." Gerard pulled roughly at his roots as he slid down the side of the wall he was already pressed against.
"No." A hand came down to grip his shoulder and gave it a light squeeze.
"I know it sucks Geri. I know it sucks to not be able to confess your feelings to the man you love. I also know what it's like to be pissed at their obliviousness. I mean, look at Leo. He still thinks I'm straight." Neymar chuckled trying to lift the mood, but Gerard only dropped his head against his knees.
"At least Leo isn't leaving you behind. At least you don't have to worry about getting your confession out before he leaves for good. At least you don't have to worry about whether or not he's even remotely interested in a long-distance relationship. At least he isn't leaving for Dortmund." Gerard couldn't see a positive in the situation, not one.
"Tell him. Start there, then worry about the rest. If it's meant to be, it'll happen, no matter how far apart you two are." Neymar spoke softly as his hand slipped off of Gerard and dropped to his side.
"Do you ever listen to your own advice?" Gerard laughed, trying to convince himself to take advice from the guy who couldn't even tell his best friend how he felt.
"Nope. Because unlike you, I'm not ballsy. And unlike you, I don't have the heart to face rejection, nor do I have the confidence you have." Gerard grumbled.
"It's a façade really, Ney. I'm not all I'm cracked up to be." Gerard laughed dryly as his head fell back and hit the wall with a thud.
"Do it Gerard. You know you won't be able to live with yourself if you don't. I don't need you wallowing in regret, the team doesn't need it either." Neymar ruffled Gerard's hair quickly before placing a kiss on his head and walking away, leaving Geri on his own.
Not knowing exactly what to say to Marc yet, Gerard opted to head out to the field for training, though it has been proven time and time again that training with a distracted mind never ends well.
"Geri." Gerard looked up from staring at his boots, mind somewhere off in an abyss, to find Leo gazing at him.
"Where are you?" Gerard knew what Leo meant, where was his mind.
"Somewhere, anywhere, other than here." Gerard answered truthfully, Leo being one of his life long friends.
"Well Earth to Gerard, we have to train. Can you day dream after?" Leo nudged Gerard with his elbow lightly and tapped the ball to him, signaling for the drill to start once more.
But as soon as the ball left Gerard's feet, he was off in space again, not paying any mind to the movement around him, only coming back when a body knocked into his, sending him stumbling to the ground.
"Hey watch where you're-" Gerard quieted as his eyes landed upon Marc Bartra, who was rocking back and forth holding his ankle.
"Hey we need the medic over here." Gerard signaled to Leo as he crawled towards Marc.
"I'm so sorry. I wasn't paying attention." Marc did his best to apologize through gritted teeth, the pain in his ankle radiating up his leg.
"No, it's my fault. I've been off in another universe all day." Gerard pulled Marc to lean against him as they waited for Ramón to make his way over.
"Why's that?" Marc asked, trying to distract himself from the pain in his ankle and now leg.
"I've been trying to think of ways to tell my best friend I'm in love with him, despite the fact that he's leaving me for another club, and not make it awkward or difficult between us. I still have yet to come up with anything." Gerard locked eyes with Marc as Marc tried to process what had just come out of Gerard's mouth.
"Y-you're in love with me?" Marc couldn't believe it, it was all he'd ever wanted but he assumed he feelings were one sided.
"What happened Marc?" Ramón questioned as he kneeled down and pulled Marc's leg forward.
"Yah!" Marc shouted in pain, only then taking his eyes off of Gerard's.
"Uh I ran in to Geri and rolled my ankle over his massive foot." Marc informed Ramón as the doctor began to roll and feel his ankle.
"Well, it looks like it's either a major sprain or it may be broken." Ramón concluded after a few minutes.
"You know what this means?" Gerard asked Marc.
"What?" The latter smiled to him.
"You get to stay here until the next window!" Gerard did his best to hug Marc while trying not to hurt him any further.
"Oh joy." Marc squeaked as he was lifted off the ground by Gerard and carried towards the locker rooms.
"Don't you worry though, I'll take great care of you." Gerard smiled as he pulled Marc impossibly closer to his chest.
"Those idiots." Neymar grumbled as a smile crawled across his lips.
"They finally fessed up to each other huh?" Leo butted in as he put his arm around Ney's shoulder.
"Yeah. I wish I was as brave as Gerard." Neymar chuckled as he crossed his arms and leaned into Leo's side.
"What do you mean?" Leo questioned.
"I wish I could tell my best friend I'm in love with him too." Neymar peered up into Leo's eyes as he watched the man beside him try to connect dots.
"What do you mean?" Leo gazed back at Neymar, perplexed.
"You know, for being such a brilliant footballer, you lack common sense. I like you idiot, no, I love you. I'm in love with you." Leo stood silently as he tried to digest everything.
"Oh." Was all Leo had to say.
"Oh? What do you mean, 'oh'?" Neymar laughed as he turned to face Leo, whose arm was still around him, and began poking him in the side, pulling a laugh from Leo.
"I confess my love for you and all you have is an 'oh'?" Neymar smiled widely as he continued to poke Leo's sides.
"No! No! I love you too! Stop!" Leo continued to laugh as he tried to wiggle away from Neymar's grip.
"That's what I wanted to hear." Neymar wrapped his arms tightly around Leo's middle and held him close.
