Warnings of death, blood and Stockholm syndrome.

Virgil sighed as he walked out of his office, his job was slow and tiring today and he wanted nothing more than to get an break. He started walking the now empty streets, looking around at the tall buildings and billboard with the advertising paper slowly peeing off.

He felt arms wrapped around his neck and an beautiful cheery voice cried."haha Virgil!" He placed his hands on the others and kissed one "hello patt"

The other let go and turned around for his smile only to drop, Virgil looked an mess. He had bags under his eyes and clothes was creased and untucked, his worried and anxious face was unable to look him in the eyes. Patton cursed under his breath if only he was there to make sure Virgil was okay in the day. He looked Down, Virgil noticed this and lifted up his chin with his thumb. "Hey.. I'm fine," he reassured and Patton still wasn't convinced.

Virgil thought for an moment and then softly kissed Patton on his lips and then pulled away. He looked at the sky, it was cloudy and dark but it wasn't scheduled to rain. He slowly tapped Patton chest near his heart and whispers in his ear.

"Let's play an game of tag."

Patton full body dropped and his head hung low and heads closed, bystanders who seemed to come out of nowhere. They walked past staring and whispering but none seemed to care, Virgil stared as he felt the energy raiding from Patton, his smile grew as he felt all the anxiety and worries disappear from his body as an confidence smile replaced his worried frown.

An giggle was heard  and he saw Patton smiling, his smile was large and his pupils dilated.

The game has begun.

"Oh detective.. It's been so long" he drawled as he swung from side to side, Virgil smiled as he was called his nickname. You see Virgil was an detective and worked on an case  which he ended up falling in love. "It has been.." He grinned.

Patton smiled grew into an cheeky grin and poked Virgil." tag your it!" He started to run and Virgil blinked and then started to run.

The wind was blowing in his hair as he ran, the feeling of freedom through his veins, people complained and shouted at him as he pushed past them in an rushed matter not even caring if he hurt anyone, he was in an hunt.

Detective vs criminal.

Patton giggled as he sliced the last remaining person, blood was splattered on the wall and the window was opened to show an bloody white curtain to the public, he stood on the balcony as he stared down the streets. He was hiding, he was cheating but he didn't care. His love wouldn't mind.

An scream was heard as he saw an neighbour saw the bloody body of the poor owner of them home and ran to call the police, he pouted as the police could ruin his game. He sighed as he started to climb from balcony to balcony.

Virgil stopped running as he panted he saw police men walk towards him, he grumbled as he didn't need this right now he had an game to win. "D.I detective inspector sanders there has been another death."  He looked up and pretended to be shocked, how was this his problem? "We believed that it was done by jokers grin.." Virgil gasped and squeezed his arms.

Oh Patton is definitely playing now..

You see the jokers grin was the case Virgil had worked on, it was an young man who had killed his entire family and friends, he always sliced them up and drew an big wide grin on the walls, at first Virgil didn't believe it as he had met the jokers grin it was an man his age, bright sparkly blue eyes and brown curly hair. He had dimples and a cute button nose and small innocent smile.

Virgil didn't stand an chance.

Soon Virgil started to fall for the killer and his innocence. He found out that the "jokers grin." Or real name Patton had split personality disorder and he was the one who did the killing not Patton, Virgil fell for it like an idiot.

He had hurt himself one day as he stabbed himself deep with an knife, Patton stood there wearing an dark hoodie and looking worried. "Virgey I don't like th-" Virgil threw the knife far." Shhh.. It's fine, you disabled the cameras?" Patton had nodded and Virgil stood and pulled on the switch on the emergency lights, the world plunged into darkness and Virgil's coworkers in an panic as they couldn't see.

Virgil fell as the pain in his stomach over powered him. Patton held Virgil's face and kissed him. " I'll see you on the other side love."

The "Jokers grin" escaped that day, police believe that he had over powered Virgil and took out the lights to make an panic, Virgil was in the hospital and his Criminal lover visited him everyday.

Virgil grinned widely as he ran to the household. He entered as forensics left, the walls was covered in blood and the bodies were moved but there blood remain. Virgil looked for clues to find where Patton could've ran too. Bloody footprints led to the balcony. An grin was drawn on the floor and he couldn't help but trace it. He kicked an balcony chair in anger he has lost him due to those police men.

Patton stood on the roof watching the police walk in and out of the houses, he saw Virgil and his eyes brighten up but he glared as he saw police stood him. He huffed as he was bored waiting. Patton saw Virgil was missing and saw an angelic presence in the balcony. He smiled as he was bound to get caught now. An Policeman started talking to Virgil and drag him away, Patton's eyes widen And climbed down to the balcony. His breathing was heavy and ragged and he glared at the policeman back.

"Now now no quitting the game now detective.." He murmured loudly and the policeman gasped, one fumbled to shoot him but Patton stared intently, interested if they were going to shoot. The gun went off and so did the policeman body. His gaze shot up to see Virgil wide eyed and breathing crazily, holding an now broken plant pot. Patton picked up the gun and shot the body as he walked to Virgil.

"Looks like I've found you criminal.." He held Patton waist close and there faces were very close to each other, there was no space between the two something they didn't mind. He kissed him as Patton held the gun to his head.

"Tag your it!"

An gunshot could be heard through the streets as dogs started barking and public screaming.
