"Okay let's take it from the beginning.", Scarlett said as calm as she could, because she knew that if she had freaked out, she would be having a lot of problems. She went inside and closed the door. They went in Lorrie's room and sat on her bed. "So, are you sure?"
"Yes..", she said in tears.
"How sure?"
"I took a pregnancy test, and those things are never wrong!"
''Okay, calm down. Did you tell your mother?"
"No, but I'm telling her later."
"Great, you'll have a lot of help from her, and from me! And anyone else you want! It's going to be okay, I promise. So, who's the father?"
"Who else?"
"Victor?", Scarlett whispered. "You've got to tell him, he has the right to know!"
"I will... Soon. Gosh Scarlett, I'm so screwed.", she said while crying.
"I know honey.. I know..", she said while hugging her.
The next day Scarlett woke up really early. She had barely slept last night. She was constantly thinking of Lorrie and her mother. She sat on her bed and saw the time on her cellphone. It was six o'clock and she had slept at three o'clock. She fed the drunk pigeon and went downstairs. She saw Victor holding a bottle of whiskey and drinking. He didn't look drunk. He looked very sad. She went near him and looked at him.
"I went to her house last night.", Scarlett said.
"What? What happened? Is she okay?", Victor asked in a moment of panic.
"She is fine, but I don't think she is gonna come at school today either."
"Great..", he said looking at the floor.
"What?"
"She is not returning any calls or messages. I really don't want to disturb her anymore."
"Don't. She'll talk to you when she is ready."
"Ready for what?"
"Nothing.", Scarlett said quickly. "Now go get some sleep. You have to wake up in two hours."
"Okay. Bye Scar.", he said as he went upstairs.
She opened the fridge and took a yogurt. It had a cherry flavour, her favourite. She wondered if her father was at home that time, so she would go and say hi, but then she regretted it when she thought that he would ask why was she woken up so early. And then she realized that she couldn't face her dad after the incident with her mother and her boss. She finished her yogurt and went upstairs to try sleeping again. After two hours of trying, but not succeeding, to sleep, she found her clothes for school and put them on. She took her hair on a ponytail and wore her favourite converse shoes. She took her backpack and left. Victor was still sleeping and she thought that he would need it after Lorrie told him the news. She wondered if she had told her mother.
As she went in, Theodore was standing by the gate waiting for her. "Where's Lorrie?", he asked.
"I don't think she is coming today either."
"Have you guys talked at all?"
"Yes. She is fine."
"So why isn't she coming."
"Because something happened in the house. Family things. Anyways, she'll probably come back soon."
"Good.", he said, as he walked away.
