Disclaimer: I do not own the Heroes of Olympus series.
Pairing: Jason X Reader
Spoiler Alert! Do not read if you haven't read the Burning Maze.
"Jason..." I exhaled slowly. So much can happen in a blink of an eye. You can get your first kiss. You can be claimed by your godly parent. You can get your first quest. You can die for someone who doesn't love you back.
Everything was blurry and distorted. Screaming and blood faded from my senses as the spear was extracted from my back.
My protective grip on Jason's shoulders loosened before going completely slack. Jason caught me, sweeping me up onto Tempest's back safely.
The emperor regarded me sadly. "It's such a pity. You would've been a beautiful prize to flaunt."
An unharmed Jason, thanks to me, drew his sword. Lightning swarmed and Tempest nickered nervously. I was nervous as well. I had never seen Jason this angry.
His blue eyes glinted with tears and madness.
"Jason," I croaked out, trying desperately to wipe the blood trickling from my mouth. Jason turned to me, his eyes turning to a gentle rainstorm. "Don't hurt yourself."
Jason gave me a concerned smile before murmuring to Tempest to find Piper, Apollo, and Meg to heal me.
"Y/N!" Three blurry figures ran to me, their tears washing the blood from my face. However, I only had eyes for Jason. Hades, I've only ever had eyes for Sparky. But he was the only one I could see clearly. His determination and anger. The beads of perspiration on his scalp, making his hair glisten like gold.
He circled Caligula, but, even though he was trained by the wolf Lupe herself, he wouldn't win. I knew it. He would have been stabbed, if I hadn't intercepted it.
But now, Jason wasn't thinking. He wasn't thinking with his mind, with tactic, but with his heart. With emotion.
"Good luck," I whispered, knowing my time had run out. Before my eyes drew closed, Jason had turned to me, heartbroken. Caligula took this chance to stab Jason in his back, making my blood mingle with Jason's on the spear.
Our cries mingled together, more scared for the other than ourselves. But then Jason mouthed to me the words I'd loved and died for. 'I love you.'
I couldn't muster the strength to reply, but I gave him the most promising, loving smile I'd ever smiled in my whole life. I loved him too.
And everything went black before a piercing light illuminated a path for me where Jason waited, his hand outstretched to me.
