Chapter twelve: A Late Night Kiss
"So, what are you doing here?" Jess finally asked, trying not to snap at him or scare him. She was freaking out inside.
They were standing in a hallway, far enough from the Jess's room, so nobody could hear them. Especially Lindsey.
"I'm here to talk with you," Chris's face turned red, as he nervously looked at the floor, avoiding eye contact.
"Talk about what?" Jess knew the answer but still asked him. She was trying to avoid this conversation, but still, he had found the hotel and came to see her. He sighed heavily, then answered.
"About the last night."
"Yeah."
"Look, I have just wanted to say sorry for...."
"Don't. It's my fault. I was drunk and I kind of attacked you, so.... You couldn't do anything. I'm so sorry, Chris. That was a big mistake and I'm so sorry. I understand if you want to break up with me."
Jess's tears were falling down from her red cheeks. She was feeling guilt, shame, fear, everything that stayed from that night. But, despite her tears rolling down her cheeks and hugging herself with both arms, she loved him and wanted him back.
Chris lifted her head with his hand and he looked at her beautiful eyes full of tears and love. He smiled at her softly.
"I could escape or something if I wanted to. At first, I was surprised and confused. But, later.... That was a mistake, Jess. A mistake that I liked. I'm not regretting that. I liked what happened last night. I didn't come here to break up with you. I came here to tell you that I love you," his voice was so soft, full of love and understanding.
Jess smiled at him, feeling like she was in some kind of a dream. This was too good to be a reality. Her eyes sparkled in happiness as she looked at him.
He kissed her softly and slowly, and this time, Jess enjoyed in this one. She knew he enjoyed as well, as she sensed his lips making a warm smile.
Loud noise coming from reception interrupted them and their moment.
"What was that?" Jess asked looking at the stairs. The sound came down from the lower floor, probably the reception. The sound reminded her of object falling or being pushed.
"Let's check," Chris said shortly and grabbed her hand.
