Chapter five: The Fight
Lindsey's POV
As the liquid in my glass moved with the same rhythm, my body was dancing to the music in the background, my half-closed eyes looked with passion at Jace's bone structure getting tense every few seconds he smiled before lifting me and spinning in the air.
"You have no idea how stunning you look, my darling," he whispered to my ear as his hand lightly brushed few locks of hair from my cheek.
"And you have no idea how much I adore that smile of yours," I replied as I turned around him, making my knee-length, cotton dress twirl in the air around my legs.
He giggled, lowering his look at my dress. I felt his fingers gripping my waist tighter before Jace lifted me up and made a full circle, making me sense the wind in my already messy hair. Once the bottoms of my high heels touched the ground, I got out off the hug and started dancing in front of him.
"You will make me drop my glass," I stated as only our hands stayed connected. Putting my legs in front of each other at the fast rhythm of the playing song and spicing it with moving my hips, I felt like gravity failed to keep me balanced.
"That's not the only thing that will be dropped tonight," he smirked and grabbed me towards him. Just before I bumped into his body, something pulled me backward to the floor. Few inches before my head touched the ground, his hands stopped from pulling my body back as his face leaned closer down. I bit my lip, cursing my instincts for digging my nails into his shirt from falling into infinity. But Jace just took my hands into his one, letting my whole balance rest in his other hand behind my back. Before I could say anything, his lips pressed to mine and made me sink into his grasp.
"We are truly lucky," he commented filling his lungs with air after the kiss. My partner, that idiot who I loved, pulled me back up and embraced me into his arms.
"Yes, we are," I agreed, sending chills down his neck once I lowered my head on his shoulder. My feet followed his lead as he spun us slowly in circles as the calmer song came through the speakers.
"Jessica is also having fun, don't you think? That boy Chris is sure hot as you, girls, state. And he seemed really confident and kind, approaching her with two drinks and greeting us politely. He surely did a great job hooking up with a girl whose sister is standing next to her. I know I wouldn't have the guts," I heard his voice behind me, chuckling at the memory of the smiling boy. Yeah, he seemed really cute, I agreed, remembering those sparkling green eyes full of joy as Jessica agreed to sit with him at the table. But those deep light eyes and pale skin made a huge contrast to his black hair which could only be compared to ash and motor oil because of its darkness. Not even Jace had that dark hair like Chris.
"Should I check on them?" I asked my boyfriend as we made another spin. Even if that boy introduced himself politely with a warm smile and asked Jessica to talk with him, I knew he was still a stranger to us.
"It's okay, let them bond. Let the poor boy talk with Jessica. You saw those exchanged looks full of shyness. He likes her obviously and since Jessica's cheeks went red in one second, she's going to fall for him, too," Jace explained, talking all highly, sounding like a love mentor from a cheap fortune-telling shop.
"You sound like you're cheering for them to get together," I laughed imagining my sister with that boy. If he could make her happy as Jace made me happy, then...
"The ship has sailed and you can't stop it, Lin," he said seriously, suppressing the laugh to escape his lips as he looked at my eyes.
"Yeah, I need another drink because you're starting to talk nonsense," I winked at him before making my own way to the table. Before I was even capable of choosing the cocktail, the unfamiliar voice whispered right next to my ear. I turned my head towards the voice, feeling the breath of the person still on my neck.
