Chapter ten: The Sarcastic Girl

"It took you a while to get back," one step in the room and I was already being targeted by her words. She had no mercy.

"I bought you a burger," I threw the plastic bag with the burger. It landed swiftly on her bed, but her hands stayed restrained. Jessica glanced at it for a second, then back at me like my sign of care was worthless in her opinion. I greeted my teeth. This spoiled brat.

"Did you have fun with Jace? Finally, you two were alone," she questioned me, raising one of her eyebrows. Obviously, it wasn't enough to piss me off even more since she added sarcasm to it like a cream on the top.

"Don't start a fight, Jess. Your tone is getting on my nerves. Just eat the stupid burger," I warned her, trying to keep myself from bursting out.

"I'm not hungry," she stated with a blank face.

"Then, pack your things," I ordered.

"I'm already packed," my eyes drifted to the left side of the bed. On the ground, the pink bag was waiting for a pickup.

"Good. Jace went to pack his things and to refill the gasoline. He will call me once he gets in front of the hotel, so we better not keep him waiting," I informed her.

"Are the cops outside?" she blurted out which made my head turn toward her before I sat on the bed.

"Yes. There are two of them waiting in a nearby street. Just for the protection until we leave. Now, rest before we go. It's going to be a long night trip back to our place," I assured her before I put my head on the pillow and closed the eyes to the world. No words came from Jessica.
