Chapter thirteen: A Loud Noise
Noises, like screaming and hitting, came from reception. They could hear them clearly now. Chris and Jess were quietly coming down to check what was going on. When they reached the end of the stairs, noises stopped. Silence filled the air.
Chris holding Jess's hand came to the reception, watching in every direction for sudden movement. There was nobody, he made a conclusion at the end.
"Where is the man who...?" asked quietly Jess, not sure why was she whispering. She was scared of the unknown. "Is that blood?"
She showed the red substance on the table as her eyes flinched in horror.
They made a turn around the table, following the blood trail.
Jess wanted to scream, but Chris covered her mouth with his hand. Jess gave him a glance, her eyes filled with fear and horror. Chris nodded in agreement, trying to calm himself down.
"Quiet. He is still here," Chris whispered in the Jess's ear, being reasonable.
In front of them, the receptionist was laying on the floor. He was covered with his own blood and his dead eyes showed fear and stared at the ceiling. There was a big wound on his chest which caused his death. It was probably made by a sharp object, a knife for an example. He was murdered.
"No pulse," Chris checked the man's arm and neck. Jessica was amazed by his skill and knowledge, never guessing that hot guy like him would know that stuff. He stood up on his feet and faced her.
"What are we going to do?" asked scared Jessica, hugging herself in horror. Her mind was freaking out, just realizing that she was standing near the dead body.
"Find your sister and her boyfriend," Chris said and he knew what he was doing. He was so brave, thought Jessica believing in him. Chris would help them to escape, despite the risk of paying the full price.
He grabbed Jess's hand and went to the first floor, skipping stairs.
While they were running, Chris spoke with a smirk on his face.
"I told you. There is a killer in this hotel."
