Chapter twenty-one: The Broken Ones
There were fire and darkness all around me. My soul was crushed from the inside while my wounds hurt from the outside.
I opened my eyes widely and I figured out that I was still alive. I was laying on the balcony and I couldn't move. Good thing I landed on the balcony, I thought thankful that I didn't hit the asphalt.
I turned my head painfully, just to regret it. Miley was looking at me with a smile on her face.
"Wake up, little princess. No time for sleep."
"Kill me already. You won, Miley."
My voice was damaged and I couldn't breath from the smoke. It felt like my lungs were on fire.
"No, don't do this to me, Lindsey. Where is your strength?"
"It's gone as my life."
"Too bad."
"Kill me, please."
I closed my eyes and waited for the pain. This all was going to end soon. I wanted this to end.
Miley lifted an ax in the air, ready to kill me with a single movement. She put her "deep thinking" face on.
"No," she answered finally, making it sound dramatic.
I opened my eyes in shock and agony.
"What?" I screamed at her, feeling empty and helpless.
"I'm not going to kill you."
"Why not?"
"I changed my mind."
"How? Why?"
"You're now a different person, Lindsey. You killed a person and know you're a killer, too. But, not a true killer, of course. You're a broken girl, Lindsey. You're just like me. We're the broken ones."
"I'm not like you!"
"You're all alone in the big world, like me."
"I've got my parents, still."
"Not anymore."
She left me all alone after those words shocked me.
She disappeared in the fire.
Author's Note:
You didn't expect this, right? It would be pretty boring if Miley just killed her.
I put another twist in the book. It is not the end, but we're near the end of the book. There is only a few chapters of the book to write and the book will end.
What do you think? Why didn't Miley in the end want to kill Lindsey? After all they went through, Miley changed her mind and decided to spare her life. Why? Do you believe her story about the broken ones and how they are the same? What do you think of her last sentence, which was sent to Lindsey before she disappeared? What will she do?
Vote and comment. I'd like to hear your opinions before I wrote next chapter. I know what will happen, but I'm interested in your creativity. Thanks for reading :)
