Several days had passed since Ashton and I had spoken; I turned up to class and kept my head down. Michael wanted to carry on with the plan but I couldn't deal with it right now. My thoughts had been focused on my assignment and of course, Ashton. When our Thursday afternoon class was over I made sure that I was the last to leave, just to see if he would talk to me and as I was about to go out of the door I heard him call my name.

"Thanks for taking my advice" Ashton smiled, looking pretty pleased with himself.

"It wasn't really advice. It was more of an order" I shrugged, feeling a little bit tense about the whole situation. Ashton had walked towards me and settled his hand on the door to make sure I couldn't get out.

"I was just worried about your education that's all"

"So you keep saying"

"And you don't believe that?" He asked, leaning closer to me. I felt the warmth of his breath against my face, it was intoxicating.

"I don't know" I whispered, frozen to the spot as Ashton gripped his hand on to the back of my neck, holding my head in place as he came in towards me. Oh fuck. He was going to kiss me. What was I supposed to do? I wanted this more than anything but now it was on the brink of happening I felt a wave of panic. His hands ran up into my hair, brushing it back as he moved towards me, our lips just about to collide. My heart was pounding against my chest; I was pretty sure he could feel it as our bodies pressed together.

"Alexa?" Michael burst into the classroom, knocking Ashton backwards and disturbing our moment. The three of us paused, our eyes flickering from one another, not quite sure what to say.

"How dare you barge into my classroom" Ashton snapped, getting defensive in the hopes of covering up what had just happened. Michael averted his attention on to him and got up in his face, gripping on to his shirt.

"How dare you hit on my girlfriend!" Michael replied, throwing Ashton backwards and onto the desk. I darted across to him, gripping his arm and pulling him away.

"Michael, leave it" I shot him a warning look, a little bit taken aback by his reaction. Michael's blue eyes settled on mine and his face softened; he took hold of my hand and lead me out the classroom, leaving Ashton to watch after us.

"What was that?" I asked as soon as we were alone.

"What do you mean? I was just playing along with your plan. If we're actually dating then obviously I'd be mad at what just happened" his explanation was rational but I couldn't get rid of the feeling that maybe Michael's reaction had reflected how he really felt.

Michael lingered around the flat that night with me and Luke but things weren't the same. He had a face on him like a smacked arse and kept on losing his temper with Luke over FIFA, which was a regular occurrence but this time he was much more personal. I kept quiet and stayed out of his way, trying my best to concentrate on writing up some notes for my assignment.

"Have you guys had an argument or something?" Luke asked out of the blue. I stared across at the two of them, not quite sure how to answer that. Obviously, had this been a real relationship Michael's reaction would be completely justified but it wasn't and yet it really did feel like we had fallen out.

"No" Michael mumbled, reaching across to take a sip out of his can of coke. "We playing or what?"

"Then why is it so awkward in here?"

"I don't fucking know do I?" Michael snapped for the tenth time tonight. Luke fell silent and before I could get a word in Michael decided to get up and leave.
