Over the next couple of days Ashton seemed to distance himself from me; I would turn up to class and do my very best to grab his attention but it didn't seem to be working. He had switched his interest onto the blonde girl from my group and it was tearing me up inside, although I didn't let him see that. I continued to work hard, research all of my facts and case notes and decided to focus on the task at hand, which surprisingly enough made me feel slightly better.
"Lex?" Ashton called after me before I had the chance to escape his classroom. I had lingered around until last in the hopes of him talking to me and my plan had worked. All I wanted to do was pounce on him, show him what he was missing and drive his attention back on to me but I somehow played it cool and ignored his first attempt to speak with me.
"Lex!" He repeated himself, a little louder this time. I turned towards him at the door and raised my eyebrows in an attempt to ask what without having to actually converse with him.
"I just wanted to check you were okay, that's all. How's your case study coming along?"
"Fine thank you, sir" I answered, throwing in the 'sir' to annoy him.
"Come on, Lex. Call me Ashton. Are you annoyed with me or something?"
"No, sir" I smirked, "anyway, I better be getting off. I'll see you in the morning"

The moment I stepped into the flat I couldn't fight back the tears any longer. I didn't think he would affect me so much but I was insanely jealous... Maybe Luke had been right? Maybe he had been toying with me? I had assumed the flat would be empty when I got back seeing as Luke should be at class but I found myself face to face with Michael, who was clearly skipping lesson and hanging out in our flat.
"Erm. You okay there?" He asked, sounding awkward about the fact there was a crying girl in front of him.
"Yes" I snapped, knowing full well I couldn't talk to Michael about it. 1. He wouldn't understand and 2. He would run straight back to Luke.
"Then why are you crying?"
"I'm not crying. I stubbed my toe coming into the flat and it hurt more than I expected, okay?"
Michael scanned the floor around my feet and seemed a little puzzled with my explanation.
"What did you stub it on?"
"The door! What is this? 20 questions?" I stormed past him and made my way into the kitchen, pouring myself a glass of Malibu. I didn't bother adding any coke because I just wanted to forget, even if it was just for a little while.
"Is this about that Anton guy?"
"His name is Ashton"
"So I'll take that as a yeah?" Michael quizzed me, taking a seat at the breakfast bar so he could study my face. I kept my eyes on the glass, hoping to avoid the conversation but it was clear that Michael wasn't going to drop the subject any time soon.
"Come on then, what's he done now?"
"What do you mean by that? How much do you know?"
"Luke told me most of it... Only cos he is worried about you! If you ask me-"
"Well I didn't ask you, did I?" I snapped again, this wasn't like me. I was usually so laid back and easy going but I was turning into a complete and utter bitch. I sat on the stool beside Michael and took another sip of my drink, "I'm sorry. I don't know what I'm doing. My head is a mess..."
"Talk to me then. Blow off some steam"
"I thought this whole Ashton thing was a schoolgirl crush but then he showed some interest in me and it got worse. I genuinely started to believe something could come of it one day and that maybe he felt the same"
