Chapter 13: Separation

"Fuck off, Luke! No. FUCK OFF" Michael's voice echoed throughout the flat and startled me awake.

"I'm not fucking going to class. I'm tired... No! Get off my feet! For fucks sake, Luke. I hate you!"

I took my time getting out of bed; it was only 8:15am and I didn't actually have a class today but I wanted to try and get some reading done. When I wandered out into the lounge Michael was still sprawled across the couch, kicking his legs out at Luke who was still trying to drag him off.

"Guys. Do you know how early it is?" I yawned, making my way into the kitchen to put the kettle on.

"Exactly. Try telling this jackass to leave me alone then!" Michael sighed, swinging his arms at Luke.

"You can't keep missing lectures, Mikey! Just get up and stop making my life difficult"

"I'm not getting up. Leave me alone"

"If I show you my boobs will you get up?" I piped up, saying the first thing that came to my mind. He had seen them before so it wasn't a big deal.

"Okay" Michael grinned and sat upright, his eyes fixed on me. "Can I touch them too?"

"No"

"That's not fair"

"Life's not fair" Luke interrupted, rummaging through the dirty clothes in the corner to find some shoes. I quickly lifted up my shirt before Luke turned back around and then I continued to make my cup of tea like nothing had happened. Michael, however, was sat with a huge smile across his face.

"Has it happened?" Luke asked, "wait, did I miss it?"

"Yeah mate"

"Aww Alexa, why would you do that?"

"Luke. You're one of my best friends and I really don't want to flash my boobs to you"

"Wow. You've been well and truly friend zoned!" Michael burst out laughing but it was cut short when Luke smacked him in the face with a cushion.

"Go and get dressed Michael, a deal is a deal" I wiggled my finger across at him and watched as he slowly got to his feet and gave Luke a quick nudge before he shuffled out the door.

"Thanks, Alexa" Luke beamed over at me and then vanished into the bathroom.

"There's a bunch of flowers out here for you..." Michael shouted out to me, chucking them across the room and practically ruining them. I shot him a dirty look before scurrying over to check them out. I read the small note attached which said;

Lex, sorry about yesterday. I have 3 surprises to make it up for you. This is number 1 xxx

I couldn't hide the smile on my face as I buried my nose into the bright pink tulips and had a smell of the beautifully fragrant flowers he had sent to me. I grabbed my phone out of my pocket and typed out a message, 'They are beautiful, Ash. Thank you xxx'

"Flowers, huh? It's getting serious" Luke piped up, hovering over me to read the note. I nudged him away and wandered across to my room to get changed. My plan was to head down to the library and study a little bit but I hated going anywhere alone so once I was dressed I forced Luke to accompany me to Calum's flat.

"Oh, hey guys. What's up?" He asked, peering torn around the door.

"Are you naked?" Luke questioned him, furrowing his eyebrows in confusion. "Why are you always naked whenever I knock on your door?"

"I like being naked okay? Sue me! I'll go and put some pants on, hang on a second"

The two of us loitered in the hallway for a moment before Calum returned and invited us in. Two of his roommates were lounging around on the sofas in their pyjamas and watching Jeremy Kyle. I decided to join them whilst Luke and Calum discussed last nights football. Neither of the guys that Calum lived with acknowledged my existence, they were clearly high and too off their faces to notice anything.
