SIX MONTHS LATER
Vienna felt as if she could puke. She hated everything in the hospital, hated it so much. She just wanted to rewind to the time when Venice and her were children and happy with their parents. But no, now Venice was a mom. And Jay was a dad.
And Venice was gone.
"It was either her or the baby, and she signed documents to save the baby instead of her." The doctor had said. It wasn't fair. It wasn't fair at all.
Jay screamed at the doctor, cussed his heart out and sobbed. And he saw that little baby, his little girl, and picked her up, and cried some more. She would never see her mom, never hear Venice's voice, never get advice about boys or makeup, or learn what a period was from her mom.
But Vienna just sat in a chair next to the hospital bed where Venice had given birth, and then been taken away in a body bag, and stared at the faded imprint in the sheets. She felt numb, her best friend had died, her sister, her other half, the only one who had lived through what she had lived through. For the first time in her life, Vienna felt completely and utterly broken.
"I don't know what to name her." Jay spoke out, his voice was raw and tired, his eyes trained on the little bundle in his arms. Vienna stayed silent for a while, the only sound in the room was the breath of the three people, and the ticking of the clock.
"Valentina." Vienna finally answered. "She liked the name." It was a mere whisper, but Jay heard it.
"Valentina James Matthews."
The door slammed open, and they both jolted, looked to the door where Harry's eyes were wide and worried.
"Fuck, baby are you okay?" He rushed in, over to Vienna, and knelt down in front of her, looked over her face for a sign of turmoil only to find none. "V?" He softly questioned, and she felt herself fall apart.
Her face fell, and tears immediately tracked rivers down her cheeks and she crumbled. Harry picked her up, and sat down in her seat, situated her in his lap so she was crying into him comfortably.
"I got you."
Jay made his way silently out of the room, left them to grieve in peace.
"This h-hurts so much." She hiccuped, started hyperventilating over her cries.
"Breath, pet, I'm right here." It took her a while, but she forced herself to stop, simply chose to cry into him.
"Don't leave me, please, I can't take it." She whimpered, and his arms gripped her tighter.
"I'm not gonna leave the girl I love." He assured her, and her eyes snapped up to his. "I know what I said, Vienna." He nodded to her. "I love you. I'm not going anywhere."
"I love you t-too." She stammered, tears still falling over her face.
"I'm gonna be here when you break down and cry, and I'm gonna help you get back up and make sure you stay sane. I've got you, my love."
"I love you, H." She whispered, and they spend the rest of the night crying and telling the other sweet assuring words.

Two weeks later, and none of them had fully coped, as they wouldn't for a while to come. But they all had silently moved into the James' household, to be closer to each other and mourn and cry and raise Valentina in the process.
The little girl was a quiet one, cried only when necessary, and spent most of her time in Harry's arms admiring his eyes. Jay treated her like a princess, and he was shaping up to be a great father to Valentina. Vienna had a hard time with her at first, but couldn't ignore the pull she felt to nurture the little girl, and eventually gave into the instinct and took care of her niece.
"Matty, I can't do that. I'm fragile enough as it is."
"I'm not pushing you, I was just asking." He paused. "If you want, I could organize the funeral."
"I don't think I could even handle attending her funeral." Vienna's voice was quiet and somber.
"That's okay, it's okay, really. Do you want me to come over and we can play with Valley, and ignore everything?" Matty suggested, using his nickname for Valentina that everyone else was adopting as well, and Vienna gave a small smile to the wall.
"That sounds great. Later today, three sound good?"
"See you then, darling." The phone hung up, and Vienna slid it into her back pocket.
Harry came down the stairs and placed a little kiss on her forehead, sat down in the couch next to her. She leaned over, and placed her head in his lap, his fingers instinctively going to card through her dark brown tendrils.
"Don't be mad at me-"
"Wonderful words to lead with, really."
"I told the boys that Venice passed, and they did something."
"Oh?"
He got his phone out and gave it to her, showing Twitter, where the hashtag 'LittleV' was trending. The top tweet of the hashtag was Louis'.
"Never wanted you to go Venice . So glad you left a piece of you with us in Valentina #LittleV"
The next from Niall, "Forever in our hearts, you will be missed #LittleV"
And the last from Liam, "Rest in Peace #LittleV"
Vienna's eyes fogged up, and she handed the phone back to Harry. His hand scratched at her scalp, and she wiped under her eyes.
"I wish she was still here." Vienna's voice was weak, and Harry wish he could help her grieve.
"I know, we all do."
"Thank you for staying here with me." He gave her a smile, and nodded.
"Of course, my love." He moved his hand to stroke her cheek. "I've got you." She nuzzled into his hand and decided to whole-heartedly trust him in that.
It was a good decision.
^hi, it's the worst author in the world. i need to give you an explanation on why it's taken this long to update, so this is gonna be a longer a/n. first off, I wrote the plans for this book in february of 2017, over a year ago. and since october of 2017, i've struggled with writers block on the last five chapters of the story, which i decided to completely trash about an hour ago in the shower. i decided to do something completely different, a different ending and everything. so, in doing that, i made this the final chapter. repeat: I MADE THIS THE FINAL CHAPTER. epilogue is coming soon, i promise you won't have to wait another six months for this because i'm excited to write the epilogue and post it. i'm sorry for being a shitty author, but you decided to read this book, you gotta live with me.
anyways, thanks for reading this last chapter, epilogue will be up soon, vote and comment and share and like and what the fuck ever^
