Harry couldn't stop biting his lip, his nervousness getting the best of him. He had known from the less-than-ecstatic smile she had given him as soon as the painting was revealed, that this outcome was not going to be good. They were in the back of a cab, Harry's lip being bitten harshly to the point of a bright purple tint rising to the surface, while Vienna's hands were folded calmly in her lap. He could feel emotion teeming from her even though her face was entirely blank.
He payed the cab, and they exited it, immediately being bombarded with flashes as they walked up to the lobby of their hotel. Vienna held hands with Harry purely for the safety of being connected with her other half as they made their way through the crowd. Her fingers immediately let go of his as soon as they had reached the safety of the elevator, and Harry sighed.
"Vienna-" He started, and she shook her head minutely, her hands clasping in front of her as they had in the cab.
They exited the elevator, which in the time they had reached their floor had compiled no one besides an old man. Vienna didn't allow him to speak until the privacy of their door closed and locked.
"Please-"
"No." She interrupted, turning to face him. "I get to talk." She told him, and his face fell in confusion at her uncharacteristic dominance. "You broke into my art studio, and stole a painting from me, and sent it to a gallery." She said, and after she had finished talking calmly yet a tad louder than she normally did, she looked at the wall in a glare and licked her lips roughly.
"It was supposed to be a romantic gesture." Harry whispered.
"I thank you, but you had no right to sneak behind my back and take one of my most important paintings. That painting holds significant value to me, Harry, and I had placed it in a corner for a reason. That painting was mine, and now I will never be able to see it again, because you sold it off." She announced, raising her voice a couple times louder.
"V-Vienna, I am so sorry, I didn't realize. I-I just though it was a random painting and I took it, and I am so sorry." Harry stumbled, his face frowning as he criticized himself internally for being such a dolt.
"Every time I paint something, it means something to me, and that one especially. They all take pieces of me, and have components of me in them. That one was a painting of my mother, one of the biggest things that factor into who I am today. So that artwork took one of the biggest pieces of me, and I can never get it back." She confessed, her tone softening up.
"Shit, this is what happens when I try to do something romantic." He hissed, and Vienna finally relaxed. "I'm so sorry, truly."
"I know you are." Vienna murmured, and she sat down on the bed, Harry joined her. Her head fell against his shoulder, and he brushed the hair away from her face. "It's just gonna take a while for me to process." She stated, and he nodded sadly.
"I understand." He breathed, his hand pushed gently as he rubbed her back lightly.
"I miss her a lot." She revealed. "I think sometimes I forget how much I miss her, and then something sparks a memory, and it comes back full force." She continued.
"Will you tell me more about them?" He nudged, and she nodded.
"My mum was the first woman on her side of the family to have a job. She was a journalist, and she would go review art gallery's and movies and music festivals, and she loved it. She loved being engrossed in the culture around her, and seeing people's responses to different types of creativity.
"I loved my dad the same way, but he just wasn't around too often. He worked at the art gallery most of the time, and when he came home he would kiss Venice and I on the forehead before heading out to the gym. My mum was happy with him though, and they loved each other, so that's all that mattered." She expanded, and felt tears well up in her eyes. "God, I'm pathetic." She whispered.
"You're not pathetic love, you're human, and it's okay to show emotion." He kissed her temple. "I know you miss them."
"Yeah."
"And I'm still really sorry that I stole a painting that I didn't realize was of your mum."
"I know, H. Don't worry, I know."
^oh my god, i feel so bad that this chapter wasn't even a thousand words, and it was a crappy chapter, but drama is on its way my loves muahaha^
