Vienna woke up peacefully, not having to go to work that day. She loved Sunday's. There was no worries, no matters that needed to be done, because even though she had work on Monday's, Vienna got time to relish in the weekend. So yeah. Vienna loved Sundays.
That particular day was cloudy, rain occasionally falling on her street. Harry was no where to be seen, even though she was in her art studio. She wasn't even painting, she was just sat on the floor, curled up in a blanket as she examined the outdoors. Her torso was covered in a thick sweater, and her hair tied back in a French braid. She just looked cuddly and cozy.
Venice was away in her room, having procrastinated yet again to do homework on Sunday. She didn't care much, she got to be alone and listening to music, so she was fine. She just hated school. But she bore through it anyway, because Vienna insisted she go to college.
"Lead me, out on the moonlit floor.
Lift your open hand,
Strike up the band and make the fireflies dance.
Silver moon sparkling." Vienna quietly sang. She didn't sing often, not really having the voice to anyway.
No, this isn't the book where the girl is perfect in every way, has the fastest metabolism, looks like a model yet bitches about how she's so fat. This is not that book. No, Vienna wasn't perfect. And she knew that. She had love handles, a little flab on the end of her stomach. Her hair was dull.
And Vienna was okay with that.
Even though sometimes let her thoughts about her flaws get to her, mostly she just let them roll off her back. She didn't get effected as much by her body as others did. She knew that if someone were to love her, they would love her wholeheartedly. Imperfection and all.
That someone just happened to be working up the courage to ask her on a date. His palms were sweaty, eyes wild. Oh god, was he scared. He liked her a lot, and to ask her on a date, get rejected, and lose a friendship all in one day would be a lot for him. At that, he decided to recruit some help.
He brought the 'help' home, and after another hour, he had finally reached peak confidence. In his jacket was the 'help', carefully put there, and he walked over to her house, oh god. He was so nervous.
She heard a knock on the door, and she scrambled up, the blanket she was cuddled in left on the floor. Her socked feet padded down the stairs, and he had never felt such an impatience. He heard her coming down the stairs, and grit his teeth, wondering if it was too late to forgo it.
Vienna didn't realize that behind her front door held her future. She didn't realize that one simple question from him could send her world flying out of orbit. Oh how she didn't realize, but she didn't think to realize. Because she didn't know.
Her hand felt warm against the doorknob, and his knees buckled. Oh god, oh god, oh god. His eyes were wide, and she wasn't sure why. Her hip fell so it rested against the door, and he swore that he had never seen her look more beautiful. With her hair pulled out of her face, and a sweater swallowing her frame, her left foot hiding behind her right one and they were both covered in fuzzy socks.
He pulled the 'help' out of his jacket, and she gasped. He smiled at her expression, getting a boost of earlier confidence.
"Vienna, will you go on a date with me?"
"You bought me a kitten!"
We're both spoken at the same time, and they both chuckled nervously at the other's comment. Harry's hand went to the back of his neck, a nervous itch occurring, the other hand supporting the kitten. Vienna picked at her fingers with a shy smile on her face.
"Is that really for me?" She asked quietly, and he nodded, holding it out for her. "What's his name?" Vienna asked, cradling the kitten to her chest.
"That's for you to decide." Harry told her.
"Well to answer your question, yes, and his name shall be Fitz." Vienna stated, and Harry grew a grin, overpowering her in a hug.
"Oh, duchess. You had me worried." He told her, and she scoffed knowingly.
"You bought me a kitten. How could I say no?" She joked.
"How are you so perfect?" He whispered, and she blushed down to her toes.
Insecurities and all.
