Chapter 10

"Kara!?" I heard. "Kara, wake up!" Alex said. I sat up on my bed. "Alex, what are you doing here?" I said. "I was worried like hell Kara! I've been trying to call you all day!" She said. "I was sleeping." I said. "It's 4pm." Alex said. I looked at my alarm. Oh Rao. "I'm sorry, i was up late last night. I went on a road trip with Lena." I said. Alex sat on the end of the bed. "On a road trip? To where?" Alex said. "I don't know. We drove and then stopped at the forest." I said. "And?" She said. "Nothing?" I said. "Kara.. tell me now!" She demanded. "Okay fine! We totally kissed! And it was freaking amazing!" I said. "Finally!!" She said. "What? You knew she liked me?" I said. "You guys have been practically eye fucking each other since you met." Alex said. "That's not true!" I said in defense. "Wait? How did you get in here?" I said. "I might have broken in." She said. I looked at her disapproving. "I was worried about my baby sister, i had a perfectly good reason!" Alex said. "I should get dressed." I said. "Alright, i'll make you some 'breakfast'." Alex said.

I just got my clothes on when i heard loud screaming coming from the living room. I run to the living room as fast as i could. "What in the name of Ra- God is going on here." I screamed. Lena was holding a baseball bat. "I had an extra alarm placed on the door and it went off i thought you were in trouble." Lena said. "I might have broken in." Alex said. Lena looked confused. "I thought Kara was in trouble because she wasn't picking up her phone. But she was just sleeping till 4pm." Alex said. "Sorry." I said. Both of them sighted. I took some juice out of the fridge. "Do you guys want some." I asked. "No, but thanks." Lena said. I took a glass out of the cupboard. "So i was thinking i would get back to work tomorrow." I said. My face had started to heal pretty well and i felt much more energetic then before. "Are you sure? You got kidnapped just a few days ago." Lena said. "I feel fine. I really just want to go reporting again." I said. I poured some juice into my glass and walked to the table were Alex and Lena were sitting. I sat down when suddenly the glass broke. "Oh my god are you okay!" Lena said. I opened my hand slowly. I didn't get cut. Humans don't just break glass like that. "I'm fine, I didn't cut myself." I said. Lena cleaned up the glass carefully. I looked at Alex. "I should get you checked out at the DEO, so i can clear you for work." Alex said. I nodded. "I'll uh see you tonight?" I told Lena. "Yea, see you tonight." Lena said. I gave her one last smile before i left with Alex.

"It seems like your body is absorbing the yellow sun light the same as before." Alex said. "So i have my powers back." I said. "Yeah, they should be back." Alex said. Finally. I could go back to work at CatCo and as Supergirl.

The first thing i did was fly. It felt amazing, after all this time. I landed in an ally next to Lena's apartment building and went in. Lena was in her home office. I knocked on the door. It was open so i stood in the doorway. "Hey." I said. She looked up. "Hey." She said. We both didn't say anything. We just started at each other. Lena started laughing nervously. "So are you cleared for work." Lena said. "Yeah, i'm going back tomorrow." I said. Why did this feel so awkward. "About last night, Kara." She started. My stomach dropped. "I uh, it was nice but i'm just busy. I don't think it's going to work out right now. I don't have time for this, you." She said. Ouch. I nodded. Tears started to form in my eyes. She didn't like me. She was just lying to make me feel better. Why else would she reject me like this. "Okay, i uh i'm going to get my stuff and go home." I said. "Kara, you don't have to go." Lena said. I walked away. I grabbed my bag and put my clothes in it fast. I made my way to the door. "Kara come on, why can't you understand." She said. "I do understand perfectly." I said. I opened the door and stormed out of there.

I woke up from my alarm. I didn't sleep much. I spent half the night crying. I can't believe she did this. She told me she liked me and then reject me like that. I got ready for work. I was so excited that i was going back to work, but now i just feel like staying in bed all day. Just get over it Kara. I flew to work. I straightened my clothes and went inside. I went upstairs with the elevator. "Kara! You're back." James said. I smiled. "How are you feeling?" James asked. "I feel fine." I lied. He nodded. "Okay, well welcome back." He said. I made my way to Snappers office. Just in time for the morning meeting. "Welcome back, Kara." He said. "Thank you." I said. He gave us the assignments for today. "Jim, i want you to write an article about Supergirl now she has returned. Find out why she was gone so long. Try to get an interview." He said. Sigh. I'm not doing an interview. It's the last thing i want to do today. "Kara, i want you to go to L-corp. Lena Luther is doing a presentation today and i want you to write an article about it." He said. Crap. Are you kidding me. It was no use discussing this with Snapper. He gave you an assignment and you just do it. Absolutely perfect. Now i have to see her. Let's just hope she won't see me.

I made my way to L-corp. After i went through security, i went to the presentation hall. I sat down at the Press section. Normally i would try to sit as far at the front as i could, but this time i sat far back. Please let her not see me. The presentation started. "Aliens, they have come to earth for refuge. But not all aliens are like Superman or Supergirl. There are bad aliens too. With this device we can find out who among us is not really one of us. This device can help us determine if we are dealing with alien crime or human." She said. I can't believe it. She's launching the alien detection device she showed me last year. That's not all she has made drones that can scan from above. Does she have any idea what this might do to aliens. Will everyone soon know that i am an alien? I can't believe this. I thought she finally understood that aliens deserve their privacy too. It's already hard enough to fit in.

After the presentation i wanted to leave immediately. Who knows, maybe she was scanning everyone in this room right now. I was about to leave when Lena stopped me. "Kara." Lena said. I turned around. "You came." She said. "Snapper told me to write an article about it." I said. "I have to go, write an article." I said. I quickly made my way to the exit.

I was home writing the article when i heard a knock on the door. I used my x-ray vision to see who it was. Lena. I considered not opening. "Kara i know you're home." She said. Sigh. I opened the door. "What are you doing here." I said. "I wanted to talk." She said. "About what? You were clear." I said. "I didn't mean to hurt your feelings." She said. "You didn't it's all good." I lied. "Sure." She said. She sat down. She looked at my laptop. "You don't have to worry i'm not allowed to write anything bad. It's completely objective." I said. "So what do you think." She asked. "It doesn't matter, Lena." I said. "It matters to me." She said. "I can't believe you are doing this. It's hard enough for them, you only made it worse." I said. "It's only for crime fighting." Lena said. "Sure, like it would stay that way. It's just a closer step to eliminating them. I can't believe you would do something like this out of all people. You always talk about how people judge you because you're a Luther, but yet you give people reason to judge them by telling the world they are aliens!" I said. "That's not what i am trying to do, Kara." She said. "But i respect your opinion." She said. "And i respect yours, i just don't understand it." I said. She grabbed my hand but I quickly pulled away. "Don't push me away." She said. "You didn't have time for me. So I don't know why you are here." I said. I looked away. "I'm sorry, Kara. I didn't mean it." She said. "I want to be with you, Kara Danvers." She said. I looked at her. "Then why would you say that." I said. "I just got scared. Things with James ended badly because of work. And i just don't want to ruin things between us. I don't want to lose you." She said. "You're not going to lose me, Lena." I said. "Please, just give me a second chance. Let me take you out for a date." She said. I sighted. "Fine, only because you look so cute." I said. She smiled. "But no more pushing away." I said. "I promise." She said. "I should let you finish that article." She said. She stood up, gave me a quick kiss on my cheek and left.
