Akuji paces in circles, determining what the voice meant. "Don't let them go alone..." he kept chanting. He looked at the window as a young elf wandered into the woods. "Don't let her go alone?" He wondered. He jumped off the balcony to sneakily follow the unsuspecting elf.
Deep into the forest, he started to hear other footsteps pattering all over the mossy ground. He decided to take cover behind some thick brush, and watch from there.
"Haiti...?" A little boy wearing ragged and tattered clothes jumps down from a tree. The elf girl unites with the boy, and whistles to unite what seems like a...friend group maybe? Two more girls join the elf girl and the boy, and Akuji watches in confusion as they hug each other. They appear to be homeless... Akuji thought. He leaned over slightly to get a better look, accidentally knocking over a oddly placed rock.
The boy gasps. "Someone's here! Hide!" They all scatter, but before they're out of sight, Akuji jumps out from behind the bush.
"Stay where you are!!" He commands. Slowly, they gather near each other again, protecting the one who seems to be "Haiti". The elf girl was crouched down, and the others stared at Akuji, just waiting for something to happen.
"What are you kids doing?" He asks. The boy laughs, "Why do you need to know?" Akuji snarls back, "Because as of now I am your leader! Speak to me!" "We're just chillin' in the woods! Mind ya dang business!" The girl with short hair snapped. "You don't need to be here," the girl in white mumbled. "What was that?" Akuji asked. "I said—" " Anais, shut up! He's gonna kill us!" The boy interrupted her by punching her shoulder. Her sweet face turned into a stare that seemed to say, "Don't test me."
"Did I stutter?" She argued. He stepped away from her and rolled his eyes. "I said you shouldn't be here, Lion," she repeated. Akuji chuckled, "Make me leave, Princess. But I'm not going willingly until you say what's up. At least introduce yourselves."
The girl with short hair stepped forward. "Ryder." She shook Akuji's paw and went back to her place.
Next, the girl in white stepped forward. "Anais. Pronounced anne-eye-iss." She pet Akuji's tuff of fur on his head then stood by Ryder.
"Kaleb," grumbled the boy. He never left his spot. He stayed with the elf girl with his arms crossed. This only meant one thing. The elf girl was Haiti.
"My name is-" she began in a sweet voice. "Haiti." Akuji finished her sentence for her. She smiled and crouched back down. "What're you doing there, Haiti?" Akuji asks. He watched her dig a hole near the tree's roots with a stick. She found a rotted root and cupped her hands over it. A dim light glowed from inside her hands, and when she took them off of the root, it was healed.
"Who are you?" Akuji thought out loud. "We're the Pack," Kaleb proudly responded. "And we stay the Pack."
