Charlie wakes up at the same tree, but everything around him is much more different than when he went to sleep. The creek was perfectly clear, able to see the golden reflection of the sun's rays on it. He observed the creek further more, and discovered actual gold dust at the bottom. He immediately decided to call it the "Golden Creek".

He thought it was ironic that the creek was exactly like last night's, just cleaner and..had gold. He looked over at the other side of the creek, directly across from him. He saw fruitful trees, and blossoming roses and daisies. He looked further, just to realize that it was just disguising the wilted trees, muddy flats, and shriveling flowers.

He sat and enjoyed the sound of the small waterfalls, trickling into the lower areas of the creek. He took the time to smell fresh air for once, and not the polluted fuel-smelling odor of home. He was still partly discouraged that everything else was the same, but he was still happy about the creek.

His thoughts were bustling around in his head, until he stood up and turned around. It was as if the Golden Creek had separated two different realms. He contemplated and thought about it. He agreed with himself that the other side of the creek was bad, and this side was supposedly good. He took in the sight of beautiful deep valleys, mountains, rivers, meadows, and the majestic shadows that the billowing trees cast over the short hills.

He loved the rays of light bursting through the canopies, and the patches of red flowers on the ground. He knew he was truly at home. A smile grew wider and wider on his face as he uncovered more and more treasuries on this side of the creek.

He told himself he'd never go to the other side of the creek. Not even if there was no choice. He'd stay on this side for the rest of his life. Remembering all of the wonderful stories from his books, and imagining them in the real world.
